A tough, hard-fought game. A veteran Dailami unit was the bane of the Franks. If the game had lasted one more turn, it would have routed its fourth unit in combat. And if the game had lasted one more turn, the Byzantines were positioned to have an amazing comeback that could have resulted in a win or draw. Well played and the Byzantines deserved a better fate.

The map was pretty open, with a river heavily restricting the field. The German shieldwall deployed with their left flank resting on the river and a small village breaking up the Vikings' advance, and a strong wing of lancers on the right. The Vikings pushed forwards with their huscarls, with shieldwalls refusing their left and their own wing of cavalry hanging back on their left. The German lancers smashed into the Viking horse as the huscarls clashed with the shieldwall - while the German dismounted lancers could stand up well enough, there weren't enough of them and the German shieldwalls began to be overwhelmed. While the lancers managed to gain an early lead, it seemed like the Vikings would rout the German infantry and be able to turn and face the lancers before they could be outflanked and destroyed. Fortunately for the Germans, while their infantry line did collapse pockets managed to hang on long enough for the lancers to arrive and push the Vikings over the break point. The Viking menace was driven from German lands!

The battlefield at the end: Good game Doyley50, a hard fought battle that was close to the end. If the cavalry had been a bit later arriving I think it would have been a very different result!

The Thracian loose warbands have the one impact chance to seriously disrupt the Greeks, but most survived the impact. This, along with having more units which enabled the Greeks to start flanking several of the Thracian units, resulted in victory for the Kyreneans. GG to my opponent!

The Time Control check is finished now. Unfortunately I had to remove one player who wasn't playing anywhere near fast enough. So I have one vacancy now in Early Middle Ages Division A to fill. You will notice a few players in the league tables who have not yet posted a result. They are either players who have exemptions from the first Time Control check because they are playing in the Themed Event, or they have posted enough results in other sections to show me that they will complete their matches on time. The second Time Control check is in a fortnight on Sunday November 8th.

I am looking for an experienced player, who has not already entered Early Middle Ages to fill this vacancy. They will need a FOG2DL rating of 5.00 or more.
