Statistics . . .

I will be providing more in the way of statistics at the end of each season than was the case with the FOG1DL. There will be two main categories. The first one will be full player records including every match and these will also be broken down to show an individual players' record in each section of the tournament. The second one will be full army records to show how each army has fared in the tournament. After a few seasons worth of results this second group of statistics will be particularly useful for players when choosing their three armies at the recruitment stage.

I love statistics :) The rankings will be calculated at the end of the season as well, I presume?

The tournament is now closed . . .

Rule 3 says,

"Players will be able to enter any section of the league. It is expected that players will complete all their fixtures."

I just wanted to say something about match completion in the FOG2DL. Overall, the situation has been really excellent from the outset and there has only been one division that gave me some concern about slow play. And that division is now picking up momentum and is scheduled to finish on time. However, there have been a number of players who have already not adhered fully to the line from Rule 3 above. Some players did not start the tournament, some abandoned the Themed Event part-way through the group stage, one player failed the Time Control, and recently I have been receiving quite a few PM's about slow play, concerning the same small group of players.

So the first thing is that I hope all players will complete all their matches and not drift away leaving 2 or 3 matches un-played. Even if you are in mid-table and not involved in a promotion or relegation struggle, your matches might still be important to other players and they will still earn you rating points. Secondly, there are measures that I can take to deal with some of the issues already mentioned. For example, players who signed up for the tournament but did not start it will not be eligible to enter again until Season 3. Any such repetition will mean that player is permanently excluded. Players who did not complete their Themed Event matches will have to miss a season of the Themed Event before they can enter it again, although they may still enter other sections. I regard the Themed Event as a bit of a focal point for the entire tournament so perhaps it is helpful if players see entry into it as a bit of a "privilege". Players who are guilty of slow play (which means I have to write lots of PM's backwards and forwards) may find the number of sections they can enter next time curtailed somewhat. And players who do leave matches un-played at the end of the season may find that their entry rights are even more severely curtailed in the next season.

Everyone will get a second chance with the FOG2DL, but there will often be an interval before it materialises.

Yes, Anders (hidde) does the ratings and he will also be updating the archive thread too.

Thanks to the great folks in the division A...every game was a chance to learn something new (especially about the capabilities of the indians!) and everyone was sporting and professional. I didn't know the indians were as powerful when i set out, i just thought it would be an interesting experiment...as it turns out the matches i lost in the other period were both to indian based armies (nicely done rex and shadow), and i had unexpected success with them against great competition. the indians aren't invincible, but in the hands of someone that's learned the nuances, they are tough. So to my opponents, that nearly crushed the indians...well done!
looking forward to some great FOG events, and more encounters with a great bunch of folks in the community! and finally a shout out to the team that pulls it all together, supporting this great product as well as the community.

devoncop (Skythians) defeated MikeC_81 (Roman) who conceded at 0% to 16% losses when they realised they couldn't persuade the Skythians to engage in any sort of proper fighting :-)

A slight recompense for being overtaken by Mike in Classical Antiquity !
