A brutal slugfest as the British fought their way over a river and up a hill under hails of Byzantine arrows, the Byzantine infantry fought stubbornly and their cavalry were a constant threat but the much vaunted Cataphracts collapsed quickly under a flank charge and exposed the infantry to be flanked in turn. A cracking game, thank you and i look forward to the next one.

Arab foot and Bedouin lancers swarmed the roman lines looking for gaps, as soon as the first flanks were found the roman line crumbled. Thanks for the game and I'm calling it vengence for beating me 3 times last season

Good game and closer than the score indicates. Both armies smashed the opposing left flank but the Frankish cavalry were able to inflict significant damage though the Dailami light cavalry lancers and elephant were very effective.

Well played by my opponent. IIRC, hordes of missile troops pouring out of the woods on my flank. Masterful use of deception as well.

It was one of my hardest matches, although the result does not look like that.
The key to win was to capture the forest and neutralize Tagmatic Lancers.

Division E

TomoeGozen (Byzantine with Arab allies) defeats ggarynorman (Pictish with Scots-Irish allies) 58 -31.

The massed Pictish infantry found little help in the terrain and could not avoid the mobile Byzantine cavalry being able to get around flanks and pretty much pick which bits they wanted to attack.
A tough match up for the Picts who put up a brave fight particularly on their right where things got a bit dodgy for a while!

edb1815 Etruscan defeated ahuyton Roman 63-43

A close fought match with the raw hoplites standing up better than expected. The Etruscan cavalry had a big assist in the victory as well. Well fought by my opponent.
