And I thought I had NO CHANCE IN HELL TO WIN!

Was behind like 40 points on one turn! At the end rallies really helped out, then his pikes started to POP!

The Roman ally Eumenes had a lot of trouble at first against cataphracts and Galatians, and overall the Seleucids came very close to a win. But Eumenes eventually got his act together, and executed the big cavalry manoeuvre he was supposed to do. On the other flank, Publius Scipio did sterling work in containing the Agema phalanx. An excellent game!

Round 6: Enemy at the Gate.

Arausio 105 BC Two Roman consular armies allowed themselves to be attacked separately and overwhelmed one after the other by the Cimbri & Teutones (and their allies Ambrones and Tigurini). The road to Italy laid open but the Germans turned away to plunder Gaul and Spain, giving Marius time to reorganize the Roman army. Note: the second consular army must race forward to take up the hill position and gain the markers. The first consular army is doomed but plays a role in weakening the Germanic onslaught.

Porta Collina 82 BC The Samnite-heavy Marian army broke the Sullan left wing and advanced up to Colline gate, the northern end of Rome, where resistance stiffened. At the other end of the line, Crassus, with Sulla’s veterans, swept away the Marian line. Note: the Samnites and Lucanians along with other Socii (Roman allies) had formed half of the Roman consular armies for over two hundred years and were equipped and fought indistinguishably from the Romans. There are 3 classes here differentiated by shield colours: Superior/Armoured/Impact Foot/Sword +, Average/Armoured/Impact Foot/Sword, and Average/Protected/Light Spear/Sword. The Sullan reserve in the centre should move towards the Colline Gate right away in anticipation of the Samnite breakthrough there.
