Are you sure? I've been there - lots of hills n stuff - very rough going.
Its what I keep trying to convince myself...
And you still have to get past all of those nasty Swiss, French & German pikemen (as do I of course). Not to mention the HvA Knights (assuming you've gone for Armd again?)
Pikemen, shmikemen. They aren't a problem...
See you mid table then?
Submarining :)

Well let's be honest Dave - you've tried leading from the front and it hasn't quite worked.

I am happy to lose 25-0 to your knights if that helps my cause.

Submarining is clearly the way to go!

I'm expecting Dave to come up with a brilliant strategy against the pikes similar to his elephant solution.
I would expect to see large numbers of Swiss pikes being ridden down having been charged in the front by the knights

In theory its easier against the pikes, against the elephants he was charged in the rear more than once and ended up breaking them, against pikes ,assume 1 on 1 he will have more dice needing the same score on the dice, my monies on Dave, unless he kills his opponents generals :)

As long as he gets his steppes down he'll be fine. I'm sure he'll have lots of LH to ride down the Swiss LF and then turn on the pikes to get them fighting in 2 directions. Should all be over in a couple of hours. I have every confidence in Mr Ruddock.

Against pikes, I have a plan so cunning you could stick a tail on it and call it a weasel.

Would it involve hiding in terrain?

Final Results were:

FoG Ancients
1. Graham Evans
2. Phil Powell
3. Shaun Drummond

FoG Medieval
1. Dave Ruddock
2. Dave Handley
3. Pete Dalby

Although myself and Dave Handley finished exactly level (even to two decimal places) so the first place was decided on our game, which the lucky* Serbians won 13-7.

* Honestly - do the maths. Armoured Knights will run over Swiss Pikemen frontally.

dave_r so Armoured Knights frontally charging Pike was to make up for the lack of Elephants to take your knight from the rear...

There was much more than that Timmy. I'm rather afraid my dice were obscene all weekend. I bashed up 16 bases of Heavily Armoured Knights frontally with Armoured Knights. I ran over two irish armies with practically no casualties and without ever missing with any combat dice.

I then ran over a Seljuq turk army including Elephants, Dailami and Cavalry.

And then to top it off, in the last game against Dave Handley I ran over four BG's of Swiss pikemen frontally.

Some people tend to gloss over the subtleties and technical nuances of my game play and just claim I throw good dice. Obviously I think they are all deluded and just sore losers :)

In fact the only person who didn't get the full Serbian dice treatment was a certain player running Aztecs who setup in terrain with fortifications in the gaps and refused to come out. I believe the quote was that the Aztecs would shake their feathers at me. Obviously these feathers were from a chicken.
