Just noted this but it's the away team that should start.
Sigh, guess I'll have to PM Claymore and batesmotel...

It gives our team an unfair advantage to choose the middle one, so let's do this the other way around, shall we?
Gepids (NA) vs Romans(West) (Europe) - open
Visigoths (Europe) vs ? (NA)

If it was their turn to begin the first, third and fifth choice, then that means they have the crowded choice, which I consider to be the most important one.
Gepids (NA) vs Romans(West) (Europe) - open
Visigoths (Europe) vs Romans(West) (NA) (mixed)
Romans(East)(NA) vs Huns (Europe) (crowded)
Romans(East)(Europe) vs ? (NA) (mixed)

Did I make a mistake? No probs. Ignore my post and start a new list.

Hello
Just a thought for next Companions Cup
1) Mirror match BUT both players use the same armies, however both will have won initiative. I think winning initiative is the biggest factor, with reference to who wins or loses in a game. You could then include, army match ups (for example some mf (no off spear) armies fighting on an open map vs a lancer army), skill/luck level and size of armies.
OK it means 9 games but it is just a thought.
2) "End of an Empire" - Sassanid Persians Later (their empire), Arab Conquest Early, Maurikian Byzantine Early, Christian Nubian early and Later Visigoth Later.
a) 600pts
b) Very open, open, mixed, open, very open
3) Wondering if player(s) from ROTW would like to run the next one?
No sign of when new system is to be released. Expecting it before Christmas but having doubts about that. It means that we should finish this round by mid October?! We can then start another comp in November?

Not sure what I think about paired games. More than the obvious fact that three games seems hard enough to complete!
Like the list of armies.
For information: claymore have recieved a PM asking him to make the first choice for round 3 and I've also sent one to Tiavals asking him to clarify the choices he and batesmotel made...as I couldn't make head or tails of what his last few posts meant
Mid October? We'll have to wait and see but I have my doubts...

Some players do not have all of the books, so DAF and ETE combinations may not be a good idea.
Although yes I think the armies above do offer a lot of options.
Other ideas from other players?
Federico/Fedem has suggested an Ottoman Turk themed comp, Later Ottoman Turk, Later Serbian, Moldavian, Morean/Trebizond Byzantine, Later Hungarian.
Again in the past we have used ROR, quite possibly most of the armies as well.
Maybe something around about the time of Mithridates, "The demise of the Pike", so Pontic Early, Gallic Later Lowland, Dacian, Late Rep Roman (possibly equal amount of legions, eg 4 poor, 4 elite etc, or equal amounts of legions but no elites?) and Early Sarmatian. You could include Parthians and Early Armenians (both have been used in the past).

I agree with Eric. I had to sit out this comp because I didn't have the expansion required to play. I do have ROR of course.

That's because I haven't got the list of the NA players yet.
Anyone heard anything from claymore? Eight days now and still no army picked for the first game...

I know I'm a newcomer to this system, but it strikes me that there must be a more efficient way of organizing the matches.

Update on ROTW Goth Whitlams vs NA New Romantics
We are still holding back from major commitment of troops, bith sides skirmishing around the flanks. A lot of bow fire is happening, but not really effective.
Something may happen soon .....

The mightly Claymore has been swinging his sword in the office rather than on the computer. Doing very long days (nights) over the last week and I have no brian left. A horde of zombies passed me by on street without a second glance.

Pushing some buttons now before heading to Sydney for a few days.
