Well we are still fighting away.
I finally managed to rout the 2 mf swordsmen but unable to rout the camel and then got charged in the rear.
I had a glimmer of hope in the end where my gen had 2 fragged units next to him and I had another one too far away but could still become disrupted. I needed all of them to rally. Nobody did. Now Chris has an easy 3 bps. Then he will prob have a rear attack, frontal and flank attack on another almughavar. Also his sup mf bow on the steep hill (yep still there) is facing a fragged alm and another one on 54%. Finally I had to charge a kn into some def spr on the steep hill as Chris has a lancer lurking and it could have charged my fragged mf facing sup bow. So as you can see This is the End so well done to Chris. The first KO champ and again to Pete for organising.

In a match this close, I need every edge I can get, and take full advantage of the rear charge "cheat" to take down Eric's light foot and then another on his spearmen on the hill after his knight goes down. I am not proud when fighting Eric, I need every trick I can pull! Just over the line, 38/36 vs 41/47. Eric called it at 40 a few turns back - he has a good eye for these things!
A special mention to the Superior Archer you can see holding the steep hill. It held for 3 turns then routed the Almughavar spearman, despite the -1 POA disadvantage. As usual, Eric's initial good luck with his LF faded, I got my fair share back and more!
Thanks to Eric for a fascinating game, and to all my opponents. Nice to win one.........I hope pantherboy stays away from your next cup, Peter - and thanks for the solid umpiring and disciplining us unruly rabble!

Congratulations to Chris on winning a very exciting and close final.

And commiserations to Eric who put up a spirited fight throughout. I would like to thank both players for their contributions during the course of this encounter.
We are not quite finished though - hidde and batesmotel are still battling it out in the 3rd-4th place final. An update on the current state of play from one of the two players would be most appreciated.

I have been very busy with work all weekend. It put my game with Chris on hold but starting from tonight I will have more time.
We have only done a couple of turns...but who cares about 3-4 place anyways

So when will the next Knock-out tourney be played? It was quite fun.
I'm quite surprised the Christian Nubian army won against the Catalan Company. Seems to me it's a terrible match for the Nubians.

I will be running my second KO competition in the second half of the year (probably September-ish). It will be a handicapped event next time, but most players will still have 350pts.

Sad to hear that it will be handicapped. Not sure what the handicap will be but if I am docked any points I will not take part. Which is a bit of a bummer as I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
Tiavals don't rub it in:)

I am looking at a 325pts (top players), 350pts (most players) and 375pts (newbies) handicap, but I will run some test matches prior to the competition starting.

Any further news? Has your game survived the hackers?

A case of deja vu all over again. With all the data loss and re-done turns, I think we've effectively gotten one turn each done this week. Hopefully thinks will pick up this week.

The end is in sight...
batesmotel (Bosporans, mid) 36/41 v hidde (Moldavians) 21/29
Troops are thinly spread all over the battlefield. Will be hard for both to get the final points.
Could drag on a bit, ending with a shooting match.
One more turn done...
batesmotel (Bosporans, mid) 39/41 v hidde (Moldavians) 23/29

The end...or is it?
batesmotel (Bosporans, mid) 41/41 v hidde (Moldavians) 29/29
Pete, you make the rules but I have suggested to Chris that we go with a tied third place.

Anders - I will leave it up to you two. If you are both happy to share third place then that is fine with me. It sounds like it was an excellent match. Well played to both of you for reaching the semi-finals.

I think a sharing third place with Anders is fine. It was a great game but I don't think either of us needs a rematch right away

Well done guys.
I thought it may be a close call.
Looking forward to the next one. Have got 2 or 3, 325 pt army ideas?
