These are truly awesome NickGen.
I wish you'd make some WW2 units in that way, because they look incredible and blend in with the original units so well.
Much better than, say HBalck's units - don't get me wrong, his units are also great, but something that I can't quite put my finger on make them stand out from the stock-PzC units like a sore thumb. (Other than the crews, which by themselves are a great idea.)
Maybe you'll find some time when you've finished your WW3 units ... one can always dream, right?

Very good ! Send it over and I can produce the first two GDR divisions on battlefield - I will use my units for the unitcards and your units for the battlemap.
Outstanding units are the T-12, D-20 and D-30 !
How long do you need for the Bundeswehr packet ?

Some unitcards for the NVA helicopters:
Mil Mi-8

Mil Mi-24

Mil Mi-2

For all nations I have 23 different helicopters yet.
Also you can switch the helicopters between air and landing unit - than they can use supply also without airfield, but can not fight or move with the landing unit - its more realistic.
For all jets you can also switch between 2 different weapon systems (Bombs or rockets).
The most artillery can also switch to directly fire to fight against tanks over 1 hex with different unit .
Rocket launcher switch between drive unit and fire unit - its mor realictic to prepare an fire position in 1 round - also I used 2 different unit figures for drive and fire.
Engineers can switch between combat and ponton bridge - I have nice figures yet.

Glad to see you are getting some good use out of the unit switch gizmo! That may be the difference in this mod, so it feels like more powerful units than WWII. Will there be different attack animations for the planes between bombs or rockets?

WhatTheHell. All this hard work and enthusiasm for this mod, and what do we have 5 years later? 2 youtube videos? Not even a working demo, that`s sad. Sorry I`m upset, since I haven`t contributed in any way other than really wanting to play with your hard work!
What is it about any war after WWII that no one is interested in making a decent turn based game about. It`s a real shame that the best turn based modern wargame are the mods for Civilization 3-4 and 5, and that`s not even a wargame.
I can launch missile attacks, even from submarines, just like the real thing. There are nukes, attack and transport choppers, special forces, all manner of warships and submarines. Jets, transport planes, guerrilla fighters, on and on. Oh yeah, also diplomacy, trades, defensive pacts, vassal states. The Civ 3 cold war mod even has B29 and Backfire bombers.
Sorry for the rant, just wanted to get that off my chest. Even with all the mods included in Open General, there is very little modern stuff, and the PzC format looks much better.
Oh well, maybe the Artistocrat boys will make some modern stuff after their Pacific game, and there is always the DMP mod group...

HBalck managed to get hit by a banhammer on this forum due to continues misbehavior. He is still active on the matrix forum under tho the name of Dumotrix (or something similar), that is at least he was a while ago when i checked the forums last time. It's while already tho and considering his temper you never know ...

He posted some of his work there. I am not sure tho if he continued with this mod or not. You may want to check it out tho.

I share your pain. I'd love to see a Cold War Mod, and am frustrated by the two mods that seemed to vanish without much to show.
HBalack produced a demo for his mod but refused to share it and has touted new models and screen shots to community for some time - without actually releasing anything.
I thought NickGen's unit models were far superior to HBalack, but he has, unfortunately, left us for other projects.
If NickGen would release his art, I'm sure someone would pick it up. I have collected as much released work as possible, but there is still a fairly large content gap.

Thanks for the kind replies guys. Now that I remember back, I do recall HBalck getting himself in trouble on this forum. I believe I launched a personal investigation, and found out he was trying to blackmail people to help make his maps for a PanzerGen2 modern mod!
The guy has real talent, and I thought I was going to finally get my modern war fix...
Even the Talonsoft series stopped with the Rising Sun, except for Divided Ground, which has issues, and good luck finding a copy.
Mike, I did d/l his demo, but could never get it to run, thanks.

If you are waiting on something from HBalck, do not hold your breath. He is talented but is way too tempermental.

He's talented I see ) I like how he reworks units, under more visually real. But low technical characteristics of units especially the Soviet sometimes surprise me
http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3777393
So more Soviet equipment is morally and physically obsolete, at 89. 3 T-72-CI other T-55-Ki vs. Leopard 2))) MiG-21 against the Tornado. It is strange that no on carts and biplanes times 1 world "red menace" comes ))). And as is usually accepted in the West, the USSR certainly the aggressors.)))
PS. sorry for my bad English )

I'm not sure if you heard the news, but he was banned a couple of years ago and won't be able to put up anything.

What was banned ? I hope not because that could really compete with the original creators of the game ? )))
And judging from the link you gave the top job, he leads his ) but not so fast ...
