Thanks for playing even though some of you had deficient armies. I'm going out of winter mode and will have some time to launch another tourney. As mentioned above, I thinking about an eight-player affair roughly based around 200 B.C. using non-hordy, shooty armies using Swiss Chess rules. Seeding will be handled better, and everyone will be in every round. No eliminations.

I'm of two minds about how to proceed. One way would be to list the choices and give the armies out on a first come, first served basis like before. The other option would be to list the choices and allow the challenger to pick his army from the list each round with the challengee able to choose any army from the list other than the one picked by the challenger.

The advantage of the second option is that you don't get stuck with an inferior army through out just because you chose late. The disadvantage is that you don't get to develop an affinity for one army or get to see it progress through the rounds. It also takes away a bit of role playing in seeing your nation dominate all others. I can go either way. Which does any of you prefer?

Armies under consideration are: 1. Rome, 2. Carthage, 3. Lowland Gauls, 4. Highland Gauls, 5. Seleucids, 6. Ptolomies, 7. Macedonians, 8. Greco-Bactrians (or something else compatible from the IF supplement.)

I'll probably post something on Monday and will give preference to those who took part in the Diadochi tournament.

I'll happily play either way, I think my preference would be to chose one army and see it through, through good and bad.... after all the leaders from history didn't have a great deal of choice either! :)

I'd vote for picking an army and sticking with it. Another possible army to include would be Pontic or Pergamene.

Anyone else want to weigh in on this and/or reserve a space?

I be in!

I like the idea of sticking with one army thru out.

I'd be in too, though I don't have a strong opinion about organization, or armies. Shooty armies can be annoying, but . . . so can other armies depending on the dice gods.

In any event, this was fun (and would still have been fun if I didn't make the final round though the benefit of an absurdly unlucky opponent).

Let me know!

(PS: sorry I don't get on the forum much)
