Although, I haven't received a report for FOGM French and Breton vs Byzantine from Brian aka Kiwiwarlord I'll log it as a win to the Byzantines. On this new information, Kiwiwarlord and Carpenkm/awsum are neck and neck at 4 victories each in the individual stakes. Moreover, the East gains another victory that closes the gap to a more respectable 3 down difference.

Congratulations to KiwiWarlord on his Byzantine win and commiserations on his loss to markleslie. Congratulations to Mark on his Venetian Colonial truimph over Brian's Ottomans. Mark is now neck and neck with both Brian and the carpenkm/Alan in the individual stakes. Well what a game......... my initial thoughts were to deploy deep and buy time before the hordes of Light Infantry & Impact Foot swamped the Macedonian's handful of Pike Phalanxes and supporting Elephants.
I have this army in 28mm and have played many tabletop wargames with Alexander leading from the front and crushing many opponents, unfortunately Alexander was not leading the army on this occasion thus my plan for a Draw.
The Spanish advanced down to the Macedonian's very defensive position which included some hills & a Village and battle commenced.
Losses were about even but the Spanish ( I thought were in a winning position ) when the Macedonians lost a General and some Companions leaving their Right Flank wide open.

The Macedonian Elephants were the Heroes of the Day both winning the Alexander Medal as they supported the Phalanxes against the Impact Foot, one Elephant became Fragged and beat off several attacks until it rallied and charged a Spanish General and his Cavalry unit in the rear,routing it. The other Elephant in support of a battered Phalanx, routed a Roman Legionary unit and won the game just as darkness was approaching.

FoGII Round 2 Result : Win to the East

KiwiWarlord's 5,373 Crusaders 1155 AD, 42%,.... Defeat ... Carpenkm's 4,577 English Continental 1350AD,63%
Close tussle around a forest and low hills with the English archers shooting from cover and the crusader Cavalry chasing lights around in the woods at one stage.
The Crusaders cleared the woods and engulfed the English, suffering heavy casualties in doing so.

Congratulations on a successful crusade Brian. Again, Brian extends his individual lead and the East gains another victory!
Correction - Pike&Shot Round 2 was reported as a win to the WEST. however, one game remains that will determine the result. (The bean counter has be relegated to counting his lucky stars he's not been put to the sword!)
All eyes are now on

• markleslie's venetians and lascar's mongols and armenians. The winner will not only win the accolades of victory but take the FOGM Round 2 for their respective factions.
  

• KiwiWarlord's Ottomans and Alan's Savoyard. Brian may further his lead (or be thwarted) and the winner will win the Pike&Shot round 2 for their respective factions

• And as previously mentioned Don and lascar will fight it out to determine who will reign supreme (correction; increase or decrease the winning/losing margin) in the Pike&Shot Round 1 stakes (correction; Round 2 stakes)

• Lastly, sad to say, even if GDod wins, FOGM round 1 will still belong to the West!

There is a mixup, lascar defeated me in Round 1 of P&S. I have NOT played anyone for round 2 of P&S!

No problem Don I mistakenly recorded a P&S round 2 victory for lascar instead of round 1. This is mixed news for the East faction as this means they have won round 1 but cannot win round 2 as the West has already won 3 games with only two to play.

Extrapolating the results shows that the East cannot win the tournament but they can draw. If this happens I propose to have a champion from each side play off for the glory of their respective faction. Suggestions?

Sounds like a great idea if there is a tie!

The match between Lascar, Russians 1560-1597, and gort7078 French 1643-1648, is not possible because there is no such French army in Extra Nations 3.0.

I suggest instead the match be Russians 1649-1661 and French 1649-1660 from Le Roi Soleil

Not sure how this one slipped through Dave. You're quite correct... Le Roi Soleil is an option if both of you are agreeable.

In P&S Round Two, my Savoyards won against Brian's Ottomans 56-24.

Despite outnumbering the Ottomans by about 11000 to 7000, my Savoyards, consisting mostly of Pike and musket troops and 8 or so units of quite good impact cavalry, felt under severe pressure for the first few turns. I manouvred to the open right wing determined to stay away from the woods on the left, which I felt would be hopeless for my heavier infantry. Brian started to surround me with his cavalry and before long his Janissaries and light foot were tearing big holes in my infantry line while his cavalry started to outflank me.

I thought it was all over but my flank march arrived at the perfect moment and place, allowing my cavalry to sweep away one of Brian's flanks. In the centre despite my losses I was able to concentrate shooting on a few units and started to break the Janissary line. On my left my emboldened cavalry advanced and somehow, to my great surprise, I was then surrounding and outflanking the enemy and my cavalry closed in on the poor enemy infantry to finish them off.

In the end, a very interesting game and a pleasant one for me. Brian played with his usual skill and habitual good grace, offering encouragement and praise in a very sporting fashion.

Congratulations on your win Alan It is clear from the results that Brian has taken the Player of the Tournament individual trophy. We now only await the FOGM2 results to determine the faction winner.
