The Medes were able to seize a large hill on the left of the battlefield, and leverage that advantage to scrape a narrow win. The final score doesn't look very close, but it was in fact neck and neck until a sudden Assyrian collapse in the last two turns.

On the contrary: They'll be back (represented by me)...! I need to understand how to master or at least play Scythians and Cimmerians. Thoughts and ideas, anyone?

I think the problem is that the Lydian army can field such a lot of cheap infantry as well as superior cavalry.

A rocky outcrop overlooking a tall hill overlooking the battlefield proved a considerable advantage. The Lydians pushed the Cimmerians off the hill, but the outcrop severely hampered their attempts to pin down the Cimmerian horse archers.
