Londo (Ottomans) 40/62 vs Pantherboy (Serbs) 60/56
Pantherboy (Ottomans) 42/62 vs Londo (Serbs) 56/56
Very close games in the end!
Comments on the Scenario:
Kudos to SP for another interesting and colourful historical scenario, with a nice variety of units. It seems virtually impossible for Serbia to win, but I guess that corresponds with history. My only query is whether the Serbs might be given some MF with light spear to give them more fighting power in the little clumps of forest and scrub that dot the map. Serbia is a mountainous and heavily forested region, so it seems odd that they'd be helpless in close terrain.
Comments on Strategy:
I started off quite poorly, letting several light units get trapped and killed. Pantherboy had a combined margin of victory across both games of around 5 to 10 until the end. Indeed, for much of my time playing, I was wondering how to escape with an honourable loss rather than an embarrassing blowout.
We had radically different strategies. With the Ottos, Pantherboy formed them into close lines to bring crushing firepower to bear. I spread the Otto cavalry out and tried to manoeuver. I held the Janissaries back around the central fortified area, which I believe was their standard doctrine. They were very useful later in the game, operating in and around the ditches and broken ground.
With the Serbs, Pantherboy moved forward aggressively from the start. I kept most of the Serbs huddling behind the river, while I concentrated a group of knights and supporting troops to sally forth on the right side.
In the end though, luck played a big part, and I had the better of it. There were a bunch of charges in which I got a lucky instant fragment on the defender. And I got some excellent rallies.

So Londo has beaten pantherboy 26-20 on the tie-breaker and will play ericdoman1 in the final!

Congratulations to Paul and commiserations to Steve.
Regarding your comments about the scenario, Paul, I will be reviewing all my scenarios when we get the new version of FOG and I will bear your comments in mind. I have played many battles where the Serbians have won but I see no basic objection to including some MF in their army.

Division B
macsen (Handamids) 30/38, defeated kmaher (Early Bulgarian) 46/35.
The Bulgars fought well but a combination of lancers and dailami falling on one wing did for them.
That me finished and I hope to never see another average lancer, useless buggers charge everything and then lose.
cheers
