Jon - TBD that I may be commanding in Caen as well as in Abbaye, or rather Jon C and I would swap those assignments (JCB > Caen, JC > Abbaye)

I will inquire with my supreme commander

Looks like it will be Abbaye for us. This time my VG will have an easier task as you haven't got as many Crocs! Revenge is close...

Gentlemen, June 10th PM is ready...
Good luck commanders! ;-)

Reminders:
* 'Real engineers' are now active (place/remove tank traps, demolish walls, cut trees, clear marsh)
* Battle groups (BGs) always approach from approximately the correct direction (check the arrows on the Strat Map)

Warning:
To fairly simulate possession of the two critical bridge flags in Pegasus, one German, one now British, the two sides begin VERY close...

Download in the usual way
GottaLove88s wrote:1. Run BA on your Mac, PC or iPad
2. If you do not already have the GJS'44 Campaign on your system, skip ahead to Step 8... If you do have it, then you have to delete your old version first (steps 3-7)
3. Choose Multiplayer (at the bottom)
4. Log in to Multiplayer as usual
5. Choose the My Challenges tab (at the top) then press New Challenge
6. Select a GJS'44 Campaign scenario and then Delete Campaign (bottom right)
7. Press X until you get back to BA start screen
8. Choose Campaigns (at the bottom)
9. Choose Download Community Scenarios (at the top)
10. Choose Download a Campaign Package from the Internet (top right)
11. Type http://bit.ly/BA88gjs44 into the URL box
12. Click the green tick

14. This should download everything that you need
15. Press X until you get back to the BA start screen and choose Multiplayer
16. Log in to Multiplayer as usual
17. Either go to the My Challenges tab and click the New Challenge arrow. This list will now show the GJS44 v1.4 Normandy Campaign...
18. Or go to the Accept Challenges tab and click the scenario that you're supposed to be fighting (if your opponent has already setup your game)

After all that, you can play GJS'44 on any platform... Phew!!
Neat little instructional vid by fellow gamer IDjester, explaining how to download and setup GJS'44... Thanks mate. Nice! :D

JUNE 10th AM BATTLES

Hermanville: Lt Col Mowby 192/21 [APS] ASD v Lt Col iProp 27/3 [MRS]
Pegasus Bridge: Maj CoreySr 30/79 [ATMRS] attack/no move AFD v Lt Gen Mlazar 914/352 [FwPS]
Bieville: Lt Col JonCorcuera 1/79 [MRS] AFD v Maj Honour Ost 642/716 [ARPS]
Cristot: Maj Honour II/12/12SS [MRPS] ASD v Maj MKboy 231/50 [S]

JUNE 10th PM BATTLES

Abbaye: Col JonCorcuera 22/7 [S] ME v Lt Col Honour79 Ost 411/716 [MPS]
Looks like an intriguing game of cat & mouse... The trick is that the Allies have the firepower but very little eyesight... The Germans have vision and a few nasty ATGs...

Benouville: Lt Col CaveHobbit 858/346 [PS] ASD v Maj CoreySr 30/79 [ATMRS]
The mouse pulled the cat's tail, again... Not easy for the Germans this one...

Pegasus Bridge: Lt Col Hidde 9/3cdn [MRS] AFD v Lt Gen Mlazar 914/352 [FwPS]
A lovely battle where opposing forces begin VERY close together... This could be decided early, by unlucky positioning, or it might become a drawn out slog for the centre...

Caen: Lt Col Morge 26/12SS [FwMRPS] AFD v Maj Gen Jcb 22/7 6al/6 (plus re-org from 22/7)[ATMRS]
The ball breaker... Caen is THE map to play. Full urban environment. German SS has the firepower, but their direction of approach is difficult, with a rather large castle in the way...

1 DEPENDENT NIGHT BATTLE

If 6al6 wins, Caen 2: 25/12SS AFD v Survivors

Into the breech once more with Justin!
Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more;
Or close the wall up with our English dead.
In peace there's nothing so becomes a man
As modest stillness and humility:
But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger;

(Or Panther! Or PzIV? ;-))

I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again, for certainty...

Since the Allies managed to take the Pegasus Bridge VP flag, June 10th AM, and therefore earned the right to deploy around it... while the Germans continue to hold the Orne Bridge VP flag, and can deploy around that... both sides start VERY close in Pegasus... You have been warned gentlemen...

(You like might like to experiment versus a team mate, to get an appreciation for how close... They will be able to see you shaving! ;-))

I am not complaining but the Allies never crossed the bridge (well they got a tank or two across that died within seconds). When we ended we both had one side of that bridge. I was suprised that they can set up on both sides. I haven't set up yet

Lol, I know you're a pro M, so I know you're not really complaining, but the general concept is that if one side wins a VP flag, they win that approximate zone of control, rather than just the single square that the flag is in... The GM has to design each map using the VP flags and KIAs reports, not from the exact position of every unit on the map.

I'm guessing that the objectives for the Germans June 10th AM game in Pegasus would have been something like (i) kill a lot of 30/79's units on the attack, and (ii) prevent him from taking the Pegasus Bridge VP flag... Although CoreySr managed to close the game with a ceasefire negotiation, he did well to finish while keeping the VP flag and without losing too many units... Sneaky bugger, eh?!! ;-)

The lesson to remember is to always think Campaign Big Picture... If I end a battle now, what am I giving my opponent? And what am I not taking from him?... Does that matter to the overall Campaign?... Sometimes it will make a difference, and sometimes it won't... On this occasion, letting him have the bridge VP flag, gave him have a critical ZOC.

PS. Obviously both sides benefit from the simplification of mapping using VP flags, rather than having to track every unit of a previous battle... So the German BG attacking Caen has the potential to take certain key city flags, that the subsequent attacking BG will be able to benefit from during June 10th night time...

I'm a bit overwhelmed at the moment with a lot of FOG games so don't have time for that unfortunatly
Must ask one thing before I accept though...after the deployment, which side go first? I.e who gets to "move and shoot" first?
I should know this of course but...well, I'm not sure :? I can always ask my teammates if you feel you can't tell me :D
