The Egyptians benefited from rough ground on the left of the map that kept their medium units in play long enough to delay a concerted hoplite attack. They also had some fortunate battle rolls as a number of Egyptian spearmen did not disrupt on the initial charge by hoplites.

The Roman legionnaires managed to break through the middle of the line despite layers of Scots while desperately fending off a sweep around their right flank by the Celtic chariots. A hard fought battle by both sides.

Thanks! I try to give a decent write-up of the battles I report, since I enjoy reading those kinds of reports. Figure I should return the favor for the other folks who also like to read more than just a win percentage - especially since bingeing those battle reports is what got me into the DL in the first place!

Both sides destroyed right wing of opponents.
I won because my right wing was weaker than my opponent's right wing so I lost less points and also had a lot of rally at the end.
The result could be the easily opposite.

The horses with the arrows came out on top on this one. Swuul had a large number of foot archers that did a great deal of damage early on, but they couldn't keep the pressure on for long enough.

My impact foot plowed through his hoplites causing his line to just breakdown. If his troops could have held up better on impact, the battle might have gone the other way.
