It's Tang Dynasty. Got it off one of the blogs. Not sure which show it came from.

Game for Kongxinga has been set. Password is ZhengChenggong

Whoops, did I make a mistake? Is Force selection Potluck? I may not have done it. If it's required then the player must press Autoselect during purchase phase.

Hmm.. Will look up which Tang dynasty shows have come out recently...

Force selection is default "Player" and can be made auto and shouldn't be "Potluck," so it sounds like you got that right. Could the terrain be Potluck? Ideally it should be scenario-determined (Mideast Agriculture for the Hexi battle) but feel free to fight the battle anyway if you're both fine with it. Hills would probably be a big boost to the army with less cav, though.

Ludendorf (Sassanid Client, City Arabs) defeats Vardus (Himyarids, City Arabs) 7-43%.

The presence of a large stream made this a very difficult task for the attackers.

The Franks, their candidate having lost out to an Ostrogothic ally in the struggle for control of Rhaetia, launch a pillaging expedition to remind the Burgundian lords there of their folly. They happen on an Ostrogothic army mobilizing there and bring it to battle...

The engagement between the two forces is brief and decisive. Although in a strong position, the Frankish warbands find themselves outnumbered by Ostrogoth archers and begin an advance to cut short the storm of arrows that awaits them. In a freak accident, one of the Frankish generals trips and falls during a hurried charge in pursuit of light troops, trampled to death by his own warriors. Coupled with a powerful charge from the Ostrogoth lancers, the Frankish left dissolves almost immediately, fleeing back into the mountain pass they arrived from. On their right, the Frankish forces hold better, but even there the skilled Ostrogothic horsemen have them at a disadvantage and, realising they are about to be enveloped, the Frankish commander sounds the horn for a hasty retreat.

The Ostrogoths repel the Frankish raid 3-42, with the help of one of the luckiest turns I've ever played in FoG2.

Meanwhile, Vandal raiders struggle against another Frankish defenders holding a strong hilltop position...

Despite disadvantageous terrain, the Vandal raiders attack in high spirit, repeatedly charging the Frankish warbands holding the hilltop. As morning turns to afternoon, both sides are bloodied but there is no decisive action. However, elements of the Frankish line are thinned and warriors lacking in confidence. Charged and charged again, some begin to waver, and a final charge from the Vandal lancers forces a gap in their line which soon turns to a route.

The Vandals defeat the Franks, 11-40. I'm a bit stumped as to what it might have taken for me to lose, given the strong position being held by Ironclad.

Northern Dynasties (jomni) lost badly to the Chinese raiding army (kabill). Terrain (Hilly) was not ideal for mounted warfare.

Northern Dynasties 62%, Chinese 11%. We report the loss levels from the aftermath screen after loss and recovery calculations right?

It's the route %, not the final losses %, so 66-31 instead.

Wei army (jomni) to fight Liang army (kongxinga) in Chu
Northern Dynasties vs Chinese (Southern Qi) in Mediterranean Agricultural
Wei victory results: Reunites
Liang victory results:
Wei's expedition into Chu resulted in a disaster!!! ND 63% - Chinese 9%

I'm probably leading the Northern Dynasties to ruin. :D

Hey that was a great game though. You had some terrible luck on the shooting cohesion test rolls. I had allocated 3 units of shooters for each of your cataphracts and cav, but I often got a disorder or fragment using only 2 units shooting. That felt kinda weird, and then I realized my units were crossbows, presumably with armor piercing, making them perfect for cataphracts. In fact I think they ignore armor entirely in FOG.

Here's a screen of the terrain and final disposition.

Yujiulu army (kongxinga) to fight Wei army (jomni) in Hexi
Rouran vs Northern Dynasties in Middle Eastern Agricultural
Yujiulu victory results: None, move pre-empted

Wei (jomni) victory.
Rout percentages: Rouran (Yujulu): 60, Northern Dynasties (Wei) 41.

A hard fought almost pure cav battle of horse archers and light horse versus lancers and cataphracts. In the end, Rourans lost cohesion and could not mass enough firepower together to disorder Wei heavy cav.

Romano-British (Ludendorf) defeat Anglo-Saxons (Najanaja) 23-48%.

A long, slow, wearing down battle as the Dumnonians wear down the Anglo-Saxon shield wall and infiltrate the forest to either side of it with their Brythonic foot and cavalry. Things very nearly came apart at the end as the warbands repeatedly fragmented the central Dumnonii units, but in the end, fortune smiled on Geraint's efforts, and the Anglo-Saxons fled the field even as his own soldiers began to rally. A way closer call than it appears in a battle won late in the day.

Lots of interesting results! I think we just have one more battle to go (Dacia) and then I can process another turn.

That would be cool the only downside to this event is the pace between turns any ideas from anyone how we might speed up a bit personally I haven't contributed at all for three or four weeks now and almost forgot to check in, lols I am an old fart though so perhaps that had more to do with it...

Sorry about the delay, I had something of a medical emergency and haven't had time or energy for the last couple weeks. I'm back now, but I'd like to defer to Kabill and Nijs for how they want to handle this, given that I'm only a proxy commander for the Romans against the Ostrogoths.
