We seem to be stuck with a scrollable top down portrait view and it would be nice to be able to rotate to landscape, particularly if you have a widescreen monitor, to get a better overall view. Any chance that could be added ?
We can certainly add it to the engine wishlist.

Would it be possible to add the possibility of field defences to the campaign battles? They are generated by the Skirmish battle generator if you select an attack or defend battle, but I have never seen any during a campaign game.

They do occur, but are not very common. They will be more common after the next update.

Development work in Slitherine is currently concentrating on the new engine, of which we do not have full details as yet.
For Pike&Shot?
What new features would be possible or you guys want to concentrate on?

DLC or separate instalment?
And you guys plan to hit with, this year or next one?
That`s great news, anyway.
You guys want to make FoG expansions style for Pike? Don`t know how many, but there are multum stuff that you got for FoG.
Probably no hope for same time MP?...

Are you working on a new engine which will enable more than 64 units per side ? Although everything is probably top secret.......We will find out at some point. Cometh the Engine cometh the game !

It is probably safe to say that it is top secret.

Going back to the experience discussion which touched off this thread, I wanted to suggest an idea I'd been toying with as I thought about strategy games. In addition to experience and morale, perhaps there should be some kind of "battle stress" mechanic. This would reflect the long-term pressures a unit had been put under, the number of "shell-shocked" individuals if you will. This would have a proportional affect on morale, desertion and even effectiveness at higher levels, proportional to available evidence of the effect on continuous strain on unit performance. Stress would be accumulated primarily through charges, routs and other stressful situations, such as sustained artillery bombardment or sudden bad shocks such as rear and flank attacks. Even enemy casualties would have some effect, especially up close and personal (I still remember the scene from All Quiet on the Western Front, where the protagonist is forced to kill a soldier in a crater and is left with the body for a day. He's never the same again). This would also reward players who were careful to avoid heavy casualties or reliance on a few excellent units, as these units would gain experience and minimise the wearing out of those same experienced formations.

Casualties number is probably enough.

Just a thought. Why can't non-keil infantry engage engaged cavalry? I understand the cavalry can evade an infantry charge easily enough when they're not engaged in melee, but if the horse are in combat and an infantry formation moves in on them surely the cavalry are not going to be able to get out of that one.
I suppose the melee could be such a mess of horse by that point that you're as likely to stab your friends as you are your enemies. But keils can engage engaged horse fine, so I don't see why smaller units couldn't manage the same.

Because historically they didn't.
