Turn 7
Syracuse 2/58
Athens 8/74
I maxed out on HF for the Syracusans meaning only 3 poor LF...still Athens has more HF
They patiently wait close to the back edge, partly on a hill, while I slowly move forward picking off a skirmisher now and then.
The big clash between the heavies is probably at least two turns away.

Turn 4 and battle is joined - sort of. I charged and caught a couple of LF. But now tangled with 3 Hvy Chariots. So may have not been the best move

Turn 7 and few more Carthage Lights have been carted off the field. The Great Deeter now withdraws his 2 Hvy Char battle-groups.
Turn 9: Deeter is regretting his Chariot battlegroup stategy as a few more lights get the chop. Carth 13/58 Creek 0/65. This will change once the African spear make their presence known ... ouch pointy sticks!

The Carthaginians made up for their appalling performance in the first round and have dealt the Persians, under TGM, a savage blow
Carthies (macsen) 52/57 defeated Persians 62/57 (TGM)
Looked early on like a blow out to the Carthies, then the Spanish Scutari intervened and ran away

causing my left flank to evaporate. Fortunately the Persian cav didn't like my chariots allowing me to roll up that wing. While in the centre the Elite Persians had apprently been issued with nerf spears

and fraged on impact

. Bloody dice in this game make no sense. Entertaining game though.
Looks like ROTW have defeated the NA again.
Cheers

Go ROTW! Well done Macsen - you have earned the "Legion of the Pointy Stick" and a battle-filed promotion to "Lead Persian Basher"

Turn 10 and the Carths decide to cut their loses and leave a chariot and LH to their fate. They have pounced on an extented Athens Lt Bow who followed up too far ... Carth 16/58 Athens 1/65

Hello everyone.
I was thinking I could take over for the last round. I can't be captain though, if the choice of armies is to be sent to me.
I have sent a PM to my team and asked if someone else could be captain the last round but no answer yet.
More troublesome is the fact that I just noticed the challenge from Sharkall for his game in the second round is not picked up by Triarius!
I'm not sure I have the energy trying to pry the last few games out of the molasses this has become...
Any opinions? Should we try to go on or is this comp beyond salvation?

Mike/Triarius has completely dropped off the radar. He hasn't answered any private messages for a long time and hasn't even put himself forward to LOEG. This is not like him at all and we hope he is ok. We could advertise for a replacement/stand in player to take over Mike's army. Otherwise the UK could forfeit Mikes two remaining games.
I was rather enjoying this competition with its huge 'rubbish' armies! But if people have lost interest..

Mike is back and in good health

Game will comence shortly. Sharkall is extremely busy with studies the next week at least...
I think we'll just have to let the Cup take whatever time it needs.
We need a non-captain to recive the choice of armies for last round...no rush

Ok, Lysimachos is captain of Europe for the last round.
That means assignments of players to the different armies are to be sent to me.
As before...no rush

Choosing armies for the games in round 3 can be done whenever you feel like it.

Carthage and Athens are still going. Still no obvious outcome.

Syracuse 48/58
Athens 74/74
TADA! Battle is over! Europe victorious!
Having had a significant lead the whole game things were starting to fall apart for the Syracusans...one more turn would probably have led to a draw.
The last turn were a mixed bag for Syracuse. Some extremely lucky and some extremly unlucky results from fighting but a few more of the former
Two disrupted and one fragmented Athenian MF stayed that way against all odds. But...
another Athenian MF that rallied the turn before saved the day!
I could have the hoplites that routed it charge again. A rear charge that enabled my BG to pursue and get in contact with a skirmisher, chasing it off the map.
By doing so it chased after the skirmisher, driving off yet another skirmisher!
Two BP that proved crucial
Go, Sharkall, go!

I hope so. As you can see further up I wrote the 13th of April that captains could start choosing armies...

My game is on turn 10-11, I'm trying to ship it back the day I get it.
Last turn I did was on 28th, still waiting to get it back
