I fear that my Illyrian neighbours have been taking liberties with our agreed borders and have abused the sacred bonds of trust between monarchs. While we would obviously wish to avoid open conflict, how can we deal with such an aggressive and destabilising factor in our midst? Our Imperial Armies are ready to march.

To the Ambassador of Hyperboria,
Meeow grr grr purrr MEEEEEOOOOOWWWWW zzzzzz yipe.

I would also like to counter invade the Hyperboreans. Is this possible? I'll have my pantherites ravage his country also.

Greetings from Canaan, the land of wine and honey.
As I follow the squabble amongst my future underlings I cannot but smile. For now I'm content with my studies of philosophy and fine arts but the days for war will come.
Meanwhile I offer my hand in peace to thoose who wish an alliance.

"...if DoW's are hidden until I fire a starting gun what happens to those who didn't declare war in case they got picked upon - nothing to do for a full season."
(Quote function doesn't work on my crappy comp...glad I can post at all)
Do I declare war only at the first turn of a season? Is one battle=one turn? If a war is not ended at the end of the season it continues the next season?
I guess it probably means I must follow this from the side the first season.
Sorry about that.

And blathergut - there is no prize for creating the United Nations you know!

One from column A and one from column B. I thought I may as well get on with fighting Pantherboy now rather than later!

I goto sleep for a few meagre hours & the planet ignites
I've read through the PM's - appreciate those as it's easier for me to follow them outside of the forum. Also read the posts here. All relevent ones now updated on the player table. Wars are in bold to stand out more. Pantherboy is helping to guide me through linking that post to a live excel table as I'm a bit thick in that area.
Few points - if you want 3 countries all allied you need 3 alliances - being allied to a country which happens to be allied to a 3rd country does not protect you from attack by that 3rd country. You need a separate alliance for that.
Having been invaded by Hyperboria the Empire of the Panthers now wishes to counter invade. Perfectly understandable - you just need to PM me the facts, i.e. you're raised an army to invade them. They then need to let me know which area they wish to defend in etc.
To answer the question from hidde - it's only alliances that are restricted to the season phase. You can make a DoW during the campaigns also. Apologies for not making this clear earlier. The guide notes will be posted later once I've fed the dogs which means going out hunting in the shops this morning.

RyanDG wrote:(So just as a bit of clarification here - now that we know that Egypt is deciding to invade my lands (curse you Egypt!) - I now PM petergarnett with my region to defend and the number of points I build my army with up to 650 points. At that point, Blath and I go into a match to try to fight it out with that number of points? Just making sure I wrap my head around everything.)
Spot on. Once the battle is over one of you need to PM the results in terms of start / end numbers of men for both sides. I'll then inform both of the new army size. If no peace then you battle again having loaded & amended your army to the new size.
All - any questions please just ask - I really should have posted the guide beforehand but just not enough time. My apologies though

I would like to introduce us
We are Tigranes the Great
No doubt you have heard of us.
We are the Emperor of Armenia.
We bid all good tidings and peace.
We hold no malice against a country
but if you should fault us.....
I'll rip your bloody arms off

Nicely in character there Ian - welcome on board.
Just to clarify for all the first battle:-
You both create a 650 point army so the software thinks it's an equal battle but you each only select units inside the army to the points you want to spend or have in your treasury (we're a long way from anyone being broke). If a 2nd battle comes then you each load the army back into DAG & amend your selection down to the points left.

Can I raise and send reinforcements now so they're there when I need them???
Or are we stuck with just whatever survives the first battle + what we regain from the battle depending on victor/loser etc. ??

Are you still recruiting?
I would very much like to join the League.
If acceptable I would submit my humble nation:
Nation: Rhome
Ruler: MAXIMVS the great aka 'Optimus Maximus' or 'Maximus the optimistic'
Subjects: Rhomans
Army: Late Republican Rhoman (note the spelling error in the FOG army lists, no doubt to be corrected in later editions)
Though starting out as brash newcomers, this small nation, based around a small settlement on the river Thiber, have big ambitions.
Disclaimer:
Any similarity to Nations or Empires that have gone before is in no way purely a coincidence

Welcome & all hail maximvs - adding you now but feel free to start making any alliances or DoW.
To answer Blathergut's last question. IMO if you are allowed to send reinforcement we'll not see battles of unequal sizes as everyone will just top upto 650 points again. My plan was to have the 2 armies fight it out until one side concedes. You can then start a new war with new armies against the same opponent. Calling in a 'friendly' power to help was simply going to be getting them to DoW your enemy.
The exception will be when cities and sieges come into play next season.

I've started adding the player guidance notes in the other Topic underneath the Players Table. I'll progressively expend the guide as fast as time permits.

Plenty of wars starting - remember both sides need to PM me your actual army spend and if defending also the area number of your country you are defending in.
Good luck to all.

How do you block the enemy army if you have to choose a province to defend? Only a 1 in 7 chance of guessing where they went. Wouldn't it be easier to nominate how large your defending force versus each invader?

The panther skin is a valued token of heroism and indicative of a brave hunter. Unfortunately the panther has become nearly extinct within the confines of Phanagoria due to a current excess in the number of brave hunters. It is with great pleasure that we have discovered a new source of panther skins for our brave hunters and hereby declare panther hunting season open. Tally ho!
