Mirror match division 1

Captain Savage (Seleucid) defeated Blagrot (Slave revolt) 45:8

Phalanxes raced for a small hill and set up to defend whilst the slaves raced to flank them on both sides. The seleucids brought enough cavalry to slow the attack on the right flank and the Mediums pressed forwards on the left and actually smashed the opposition. I'm sure the shock of scythed chariots did all the damage (they were rubbish - but fun). The phalanxes were merciless.

Captain Savage (Slave revolt) defeated Blagrot (Seleucid) 64:54

A very tough battle. Essentially the Slaves had to defeat two Seleucid armies as they were broken but then rallied back (the slaves did a lot of rallying too, so it was not that unbalanced. Slaves weighted the left flank and took advantage of a small hill and used some distant woods to support their extreme left flank. This time the Seleucids brought less cavalry and this allowed some manoeuvre by the elite slaves leading to the phalanxes fighting an uphill battle to secure their right flank and centre. Poor quality slaves died a lot but lasted long enough to get flank charges and eventually disruptions form more troops racing to the rescue. My weak right and centre just tried to hang on but the placement of some elite heavies managed to break the Seleucid left flank.

Great games!

SnuggleBunnies( Frankish) draws with Delbruck (Carthaginian) 0-4

The Carthaginians occupied a position between two forests filled with Medium Foot. The Frankish army had more heavy infantry, and a substantial force of Lancers. Both armies felt unable to advance.

Kerait (Indian Hindu South) defeats wmpryor (Egyptian) 61-56

Very close match. My massed archers struggled to hold their own against the enemy's light javelin horse and mercenary hoplites, but in the end the sheer hailstorm of arrows the Indians unleashed and the trample of their two elephant units just about prevailed. Could have gone either way easily. In fact, at one point I was convinced I had lost.

Thanks WM for an enjoyable game.

A close game, decided by the unfortunate impetuous pursuits of all the Byzantine lancers and Generals.
Whilst they were off chasing down routed bowmen, they rather abandoned the rest of their army to be picked off piecemeal.
