Halibutt: Some more answers here...

First of all, thanks again for your very nice words on my icons. I am glad that someone who knows a lot about Polish WWII armed forces give such positive opinions.

- Rogatywka Caps: Knowing that the more correct thing would be to show troops in combat wearing a steel helmet, I choose the caps because thay gave thae polish infantry icons a more "distinctive" look, making them different from any other country's infantry unit. Also, I think those soldiers look very good wearing the caps! :-)

- Machine Guns: Another new thing learned about Polish forces today! I will try to make a good, easily to tell apart icon for the WZ.30 Heavy MG.

- Mountain troops: Here is another case of "as many different icons as possible" (as a contrary to the indiscriminated use of "generic" icons)... So, yes, I will try to make a special icon for Polish mountain troops... After all I did just that with the Slovak Mtn Troops (adding a long coat), giving answer to another modder of this community. About the special hats, I think regular British helmet can be made to look like the Klobuk, as shown in the photo showed by the link provided by you.

So, that's it for the time being... Again, thanks a lot for such a big quantity of information and also for your nice words!

Stay tuned and best wishes!! :-)

Ok, what about this pair of Podhale Rifles Mountain Troops units? :-)
Very interesting the story about the Polish Elite Mountain Troops, indeed. I made these ones, based in the images I saw in Wikipedia. Thanks to you for providing the background information!

They come in two versions, the regular '39 one, with rifles, and an hipotethical middle war version, with one of the soldiers using a sub-machine gun.

I hope you like them, and serve your army well! :-)

EDIT: Icons update, see the latest post...

The scoped rifle should be kept for all mountain troops, as it gives them an iconic look of a hunter unit. Just replace the weapon of the soldier in the rear like this:

Indeed, good concept. I have updated the icons adding scopes to the rifles... I prefer to replace the middle man weapon as this is more visible because it is not obscyred by another one of the figures.
Thanks for the feedback!

Ok, one more unit pack for the "Rifleman '39" project. This time, the German Gebirgsjager units... In Regular, SE and SS variants... Each one in '39, '43 (with a Sub-machine gun), and '45 (with Sturmgewehr 44). Everyone of them, keeps the central figure with a scoped rifle.

Enjoy!

Thanks, your StG44 looks better than what I have there. Can you also do Jäger variants? They have Leg Movement 4 in my game instead of Alpine 3, otherwise identical to Gebirgsjäger. I painted them in green. For desert, I simply colored their cap brown. I'm sure you can do that much better than me.

Oh, man! I forgot the desert icon for the Gebirgsjager... :-( Jäger units will be also made... but I think they look too identical to the Gebirsjäger... Would you think they will be better if I replace the binoculars of the first figure for another weapon and delete the climbers pick that is hanging from the standing figures belt? We would end with a "vanilla looking" infantry icon, but not one that cannot be told easily apart from the Gebirsjäger one... Your opinion?

By the way, could you check the latest animation files uploaded for the riflemen?

I use this unit icon for my Jäger units. To be honest i don't have any idea who was the original designer (thanks to her/him), but in principle they can be differentiated from both regulars and Geborgsjäger quite good.

And of course this post would be easier to understand if we all could see the unit - not only the link. But as i have no idea to change this (help will be welcome) I will describe what we would see if we could see. From left to right: standing soldier, using binoculars - kneeling soldier with 98k - kneeling soldier with mp.

EDIT: IT WORKS...made my day .-)

A request made by BNC for one of his latest projects: The M46 Patton tank... Thanks to Rezaf who provided with the a nearly perfect basic icon, it just needed some light work to obtain this unit.
Enjoy!

Oh my, you really are my hero :) Thanks a ton, really. I can do some basic equipment units but your infantry are waaaay beyond what an ordinary person like myself could ever achieve. Thanks again.

Halibutt: I am really very glad you liked those Polish Elite Troops, I think they deserved a specific icon for them! :-) It is a very good thing that someone who knows a lot about Poland's armed forces gives such a positive feedback.
As a bonus, all the comunity here (an you) get the PZL P.50a fighter, a unit you mentioned you were interested in... Again, I hope you like it, and again, thanks a lot for your nice words!

By the way, I think you will be happy to know that I was searchingh for new, uncommon units for the Polish armed forces, and I found some good images for:
- Prone Polish Infantryman with Wz.35 AT Rifle.
- PZL P.48 aircraft (looks fantastic!)
- Nkm wz.38 "Heaviest Machine Gun" a 20 mm autocannon for AT and AT use (the same weapon that armed the upgunned TKS tankette). A very interesting and heavy hitting weapon for infantry support. Too bad they managed to build so few of them.
- Wz.30 (Browning) Machine Gun.
- Bofors 37 mm AT gun (with a small twist, or better said, "Switch", hehe :-) )

Besides, work is advanced for the TK-3, TKS, and TKS 20 mm up-scaled, reworked icons (only masks are pending), which will lead to a TKS-D (open topped) tank destroyer variant with its detachable Bofors At gun. And last, but not least, a Wz.34 armored car, which is also in an advanced stage of readiness.

I think this makes a good list, that will help to complete the unit roster for Poland, which, starting back in the old Panzer General days, was an underrated nation. These units will be appearing in this thread in the not so distant future. So, keep on visiting! :-)

Credits: I used derivatives from the excellent Polish skin files uploaded by Halibutt to paint this aircraft variants.

Here is the unit! Enjoy!

Thank you for reposting such a great unit! I will be using this pic for my Aufklärungs Inf. Thank you to whomever was the original author!

Anyone think that this thread should be made a sticky?

Lots of people use it, with hundreds of icons uploaded, so I can't see why not.

If you want, I have a decent wz.34 armoured car 3D model, I just can't adjust the angle and lights properly, 3DS max and Blender are not really my thing... I could send you the model though in any format you like.

Guys: Thanks for the support to this humble thread, and my work that is purely made out of sheer long night hours and "hand effort", exclusively made for helping other talented people to create their campaigns, mods, etc... Really all of you make me feel very good!

Halibutt: Thanks for your repeated nice words, also, for your offer of 3D images... The problem is, if I find a 3D graphic that is not more or less in the "PzCorps" angle, I can't use it, because I can only use 2D software (Paint.Net, mainly) and I cannot manipulate the 3D image . Besides, it is no secret that the best I can do is to transform icons, but I am not very good at creating them from scratch (except when I find an image that is crying to be transformed into an icon!). Fortunately, the Wz.29 armored car seems to be in a "usable" perspective and I think I can take it as one more project in the "to do" list. The Wz.34 and Bofors 37 mm AT are just a short time from leaving the assembly line! :-)

To all members: Thanks again! :-) And forgive me if some of the requests you make are very much delayed!

Stay tuned, folks, there will be more goodies here! :-)
