Solemnace Indian (Rajput) 1050CE-1339CE defeats ulysisgrunt German Imperial 1155-1199 with Free canton 50-8

The German took up a strong defensive postion to stop the Rajput elephants and Lancers but there left Flank proved to be too weak to resist the Rajput attack and crumbled despite the best efforts of the German knigths.

15 GDod Seleucid 166-125 BC with Jewish defeats 12 Captainwaltersavage Ptolemaic 55-30 BC with Roman 45 / 16

A strong densive position for the Ptolemaic force was provided by a river on the their left, rough on their right, and field enclosures in the centre. The Seleucid's were undeterred and advanced quickly under fire.
The Seleucid light screen was mauled by the Ptolemaic lights, which were dominated by their Cretan archers. However, the Seleucid sacrifice provided enough cover for the higher quality Seleucid main line to come to grips with the Ptolemaic's relatively unscathed. The rest as they say was history...
At the same time, the collapse was more a result of initial bad luck rather than bad planning. Thanks for the enjoyment Captain and commiserations on the loss.

Maeglyr's Ottomans defeats Solemnace's Swiss [ 51 - 7 ]

In a alternate reality, the swiss confederation firmly wanted access to the sea.

Surrounded by grumpy europeans forces, they preferred to try their luck on the Ottoman lands, convinced that their well-organized infantry would know how to fracture the Sublime Porte.

It was without considering the infinite hordes of mounted archers who marauded in search of beautiful pennants.

Despite a morale of steel and several clever attempts to take in reverse the elusives and unbearables sipahis, under a shower of arrows and bullets, the Swiss keils and hallebardiers could only hold the field for a few hours before retreating, bitter, towards their gentle mountains.

Good game, Solemnace, but it's difficult to go east with this roster !

That was a very challenging battle. The Knights of St John were extremely hard to deal with and it was only by luck that the English came out ahead. Both armies were made up of scraps of nothing by the end. My knights were riding into the distance to avoid any further fighting. They would only need to stub their toes and they would autobreak. Longbowmen proved their worth compared to massed archers as they stood toe to toe with spearmen for long enough for reinforcements to bring some aid. I don't think I have ever lost so many troops and still claimed a victory. That was very enjoyable and could easily have gone the other way. More battles like this one please!

Ironclad Macedonian 320-261 BC with Greek allies defeated Rob123 Parthian 250 BC - 225 AD with Seleucid allies 41-16

The Macedonians relied on their strong infantry centre and elephants supported by mediums on their right flank to take advantage of difficult terrain. The Parthians powerful cavalry wings opened their assault. Both armies were fronted by extensive light troops.

Despite their infantry superiority the Macedonians suffered early failure and took some time before their numbers told. The light horse archers leading the Parthian right made quick inroads before the Macedonian heavy cavalry held in reserve moved against their heavy opponents and with elephant support won decisively. Meanwhile the Macedonian mediums helped by the terrain, a cavalry detachment and fortuitous results held off the Parthian left wing cavalry.

This enabled the Macedonian infantry to finally overcome their valiant opponents for a decisive victory, in a struggle that was much closer than the end score suggests aided by good luck in fragged units survival. Thanks Rob for an exciting game.

Maeglyr's Byzantines defeats ulysisgrunt's imperials Germans [ 45-11 ]
It was a minor quarrel over which Emperor had precedence over the other.

The Western knights, more accustomed to static and pitched battles, were disconcerted to see the Byzantines,
their brothers in Christ, to use tactics worthy of the Huns or the Magyars. What decadence!

The imperial right flank (of the usurper) was made up of recruits and did not hold out long against the cavalier determination of the mercenaries coumans. The breach signaled the end of Germanic claims.
Thanks for the game, ulysisgrunt !

Stones1985 (Assyrian) beat ulysisgrunt (Hittite) by a score of 60 to 56 in an excellent game.

The Hittites selected what can only be described as a Panzer Division style army with a lot of chariots. The Assyrian mainly infantry forces tried to take cover in a marsh and behind some rough ground. Initially this was successful and they started to wear the Hittites down with shooting. But some tricky Hittites got round and started to chew up the Assyrian foot and cavalry support behind the terrain.

The game ebbed too and fro. In the end the Assyrians just prevailed before the time ran out.
