Chris Townsend's Dailami 1056 are now ready to complete their tour of Europe as mercenaries for hire with a demonstration before the glorious troops of the Ottoman Empire. We look forward to the Sultan mcfcivo's inclusion of numbers of his Serbian armies as it would be an additional marketing opportunity

Division A
On an open desert map against random27's Polish 1386 and their Hussite 1419 allies, Chris Townsend's Dailami decided to demonstrate their defensive prowess by occupying (and staying in!) an enclosure and adjoining rough at the very back of their starting position. Their small cavalry force used a track at the back of the position to feint movement to the left, drawing the attention of most of the Polish knights, before splitting into three groups - two cavalry taking a circular route, looking for an eventual opening in the Polish rear, a single unit staying in direct support of the infantry, and the rest joining the light horse on the right flank.
The Poles pushed forward into the attack, bringing up their infantry, supported by artillery, in the centre, and cavalry on each flank (with a small distraction to contain the circling force).
The Dailami right flank cavalry managed to use numbers to outflank and (eventually - knights are hard to rout) defeat the smaller Polish cavalry force. On the left flank, the Poles picked off anyone who strayed from the enclosures, and used missile fire to weaken the defenders, but couldn't quite penetrate. Eventually the supporting medium horse was driven away, and the cavalry unit supporting the infantry was able to sally and outflank knights that had been pinned by the infantry. In the middle, the Polish pavisier and crossbowmen, supported by the light artillery, made life difficult for the defenders, while the Hussite war wagon delivered their loads of medium troops, safe from the Dailami bows. However, when all was said and done, the infantry could only penetrate into one square of the enclosure before the victorious right flank cavalry made it to the centre and began to take out the guns, etc.
Final result was Chris Townsend's Dailami 1056 defeating random27's Polish 1386 and Hussite 1419 allies 54 to 28.
Perhaps another map would not have provided the same defensive position, but the Poles showed great courage and initiative by moving forward with the attack. A good game!

Stones1985 (Libyan/Sea people) beat random27 (Egyptian) by the narrowest margin of 61 to 60.
One of those epic games that seems to swing one way then the other with the Libyan/Sea People coming out on top by a single point.
Thanks for the game.
This is actually a draw as both armies went over 59 and mutually broke.

Division A
The ulysisgrunt choose a Florentine army of Kiel, knights and halberds for the demonstration (with a few hidden light cavalry). While the terrain featured a large stream, the speed of the Kiel enabled them to cross well before a defense could be set up, and the speed was further demonstrated by catching a skirmisher that tried to stay and shoot. So the Dailami retreated to an open hill, with their infantry supported by archers. One Kiel and some knights did shatter in their assault on the hill, having been previously weakened by missile fire. But the remaining Kiel and some knights did breakthrough, after some resistance. That resistance provided time for the Dailami cavalry, supported by some infantry, to first cross and then recross the large stream, and get into a flanking position, picking off the halberds and some knights.
The result was both armies at 50%+ rout points, and the remaining Kiel, almost impervious to flanking, quickly chasing down individual Dailami infantry. When suddenly the opportunity arose to first hold and then rear attack a Kiel with expert horse archers, followed by some infantry support while the other Kiel and knights where otherwise engaged.
Final result: Chris Townsend's Dailami 1056 defeat ulysisgrunt's Florentine1424 68 to 51.
A good game that could have gone either way.

Apologies for my tardiness, this finished on the 29th of July.
Division A
markleslie Khorasanian 821-1003 AD with Dailami 928-1055 AD defeats
frederic02 Byzantines 963-984 AD
52-27.
Turn 2 the stage is set and the Byzantines came well supplied with arrows and seemed eager to share.
Once again the Khorasanians had to grit their teeth and march across the wide open plain into the storm coping as much flak as you would expect from such an approach.
It was a tough slog for the Dailami foot against the Byzantine Skoutatoi, too often our boys were ineffective on impact and had to suffer in a losing melee. Thankfully our mounted proved a
little more effective coming in from all angles and our elephants were an ongoing disruption for the Byzantine lancers.
In the end carnage and mayhem, none survived unscathed.
Salute!

lunecastle Viking(Ireland) 900-1049 AD and Scots 851
40-13.
Turn 5
The boys from Khorasan slowly and plainly attempting to envelope the enemies defensive position.
Turn 8
The mailclad lumberjacks suddenly lunged to get to grips and, while it was clear the doughty Dailami foot could not match them, immediately had flank issues that evened the contest some what.
Most importanly the Viking attack spread them too thin to stop the Khorasanian right flank scattering their opposition and exposing the Nordic rear.
Salute!

Div C
alexhstandish (Anglo Irish) defeats Asterix (Byzantine with Crusaders) 44:6
The Anglo Irish fearing a huge force of enemy knights chose to leave their knights and cavalry at home, and maxed out on longbows, spear and axemen, accompanied by the usual gaggle of smelly Kern.
Setting up their longbows on a two rear hills with spear and axe in between the Anglos declined the Byzantine invitation to come down onto the plain and die, leading to the Byzantines bravely attacking. The Anglo spear and axe stood tall and fought off knights and armoured spear. Meanwhile the longbow did their thing and shot up a lot of horses. The Kern did not a lot.
A much closer game than the score line shows, thanks Asterix.
