Division B

batesmotel (Kyrenean w Libyan allies} beat Mike Marchant (Assyrian) 61-53

A long, drawn out battle that could have ended up with either side finally breaking 60% first or simultaneously. Thanks for a great game.

Division B

oscarius (Seleucid w. Parthian allies) beat batesmotel (Gallic w. Samnite): 61 - 44

My centre medium infantry was a lot weaker and got chewed up by his Samnite allies but strong heavy infantry (pike backed with argyraspides and cats) dominated the open ground of the map while my cavalry (backed up by slingers) shot his to pieces.

A fun game where my unarmoured horsemen proved extremely useful.

Division C

edb1815 (Cypriot w Greek ally) draws Lunecastle (Babylonian w Mede ally) 47% - 26%

A tough well played game that went the distance. Several key rallies on the last turn saw the Babylonians through until nightfall (by 4%). The Babylonian bow and medium foot based army set up on a ridgeline with a rough hill and difficult slopes. The hoplite based Cypriots danced around and shifted their lines whilst trying to trap some enemy lights and cavalry that came down off the hill. All the time trying to stay our of bow range. The Cypriots held a corps of medium foot hidden in woods on their left flank. Initially the Babylonians showed some interest in coming down on their right as the Cypriot line shifted but then they pulled back. The Cypriot ambush had to break cover and move on the attack but started a turn or two too late. The Babylonian right crumbled in the end and the Cypriot mediums took that part of the hill but alas night fell...

Thanks for a great game and ending to the DL season. I see Lunecastles' win above maybe 2 points will see him to the top of Division C? If so congratulations!

I am going to update the tables this morning as usual. There are just 3 matches still "in progress" across the whole tournament. A full end of season round-up will appear tomorrow and I will then start updating the statistics.

Weekly round-up
Little to report in Division A where the only matches remaining were adjudicated because dkalenda is stranded in South Africa without a suitable PC because of the coronavirus pandemic. Furious activity in Division B in the bottom half of the table saw Trogilus (Pergamene) post 2 more wins to complete his escape from the relegation battle, while batesmotel (Gallic) also posted 2 wins to leave lydianed (Roman) in the relegation position. In Division C MikeMarchant (Seleucid) finished with a victory to extend his winning run to 4 matches. Division D has been finished for a couple of weeks now.

Unbeaten runs of 3 matches or more
Trogilus (Division B) 4 matches and finished
MikeMarchant (Division C) 4 matches and finished

Match completion rate (45 matches in total to be played in each division)
Division A - 45 out of 45 matches completed :D
Division B - 45 out of 45 matches completed :D
Division C - 45 out of 45 matches completed :D
Division D - 45 out of 45 matches completed :D

Excellent: all matches have been completed.

Player of the week
Trogilus (Division B) with 2 wins this week to move safely into mid-table after losing his first 5 matches. :D

Weekly round-up
In Division A XLegione (Sassanid) extended his unbeaten run to 7 matches to pip Morbio (Roman) to the bronze medal position. At the bottom Schweetness101 (Kushan) finally broke his duck with a win in his last match but it was not enough to avoid relegation as fellow-struggler NikiforosFokas (Palmyran) managed a second win to move 4 points clear again. A fitting climax to an incredibly close Division B saw Questar17 (Gepid) hold on for a draw in his last match against Nijis (Hepthalite) to win automatic promotion. All the main issues have already been decided in Divisions C and D.

Unbeaten runs of 3 matches or more
XLegione (Division A) 7 matches and finished
Questar17 (Division B) 4 matches and finished

Match completion rate (45 matches in total to be played in each division)
Division A - 45 out of 45 matches completed :D
Division B - 45 out of 45 matches completed :D
Division C - 44 out of 45 matches completed :D
Division D - 45 out of 45 matches completed :D

These are excellent match completion rates.

Player of the week
Questar17 (Division B) who has won Division B after a nail-biting draw with Nijis. :D
