As always a tremendously close contest where the Antigonids were gaining fast by the end and the exhausted Samnite infantry was being methodically ground down by the remaining phalanxes.

The battle was won in large part by the Gallic Cavalry allies that defeated the Greek Cavalry on one flank and were able to cause a lot of damage subsequently plus some fortunate rolls by the Samnite medium infantry helping them to hold on for longer than expected against the Antigonid HI.

Ironclad Roman 379-424 AD and Hunnic (Western) 250-375 AD defeated frederic02 Hephthalite 350-570 AD and Sassanid Persian 350-476 AD 61-57

A long and closely contested battle. The opening stages saw the Hephthalites destroy most of the opposing Hunnic cavalry. This achievement was eventually matched and exceeded by the grinding successes of the Roman infantry. However the last few turns saw the Romans continually frustrated in their attempts to achieve final victory in the face of the skillfully led and more mobile opposing cavalry and tough fighting elephants. Indeed at the end the battle could have gone either way. A great fight, thanks.

Superior numbers of bedouin lancers outflanked and overwhelmed Viking and French cavalry on both flanks. Even the Bedouin left where the flanks had some protection from a river the bends in the river were utilized to enable outflanking and destruction of hostile cavalry. The destruction of the enemy cavalry combined with the routing of some archers and a unit of spearmen in the centre convinced the Viking and French army to flee after the penultimate unit of cavalry was routed from the field.
