Seriously, I am very glad that my work is useful to you! No need to reveal the surprises of your planned work...
Actually I was thinking to make some special situations in one of the scenarios to honor the valiant night witches, nothing more. Maybe to give that unit a good ground attack value and massive defensive values for air defence.
And some cute big unit picture too
PS: I am very eager to get those russian marines

It would be nice to see the Night Witches in action! And the Soviet Naval Infantry is coming, fast! Stay tuned!

guille1434 wrote:But... Here is another, brand new icon for the Po-2, that I think is looks more like the real aircraft. I hope you like it! (could not figure how to make it switchable, regreatbly

)
Wait! After all, it CAN be made "switchable"! What about this:
Switch 1: "normal" flight, useful as an observation aircraft (can be given recon move), token attack values. "normal" stats for the unit (to be determined). Good spotting.
Switch 2: Harassing attack mission... The aircraft is fliying real low and slow, almost hugging the ground to attack isolated enemy unts. Movement is drastically reduced, and air defense is much higher, ground defense is also higher (but not as AD), because the aircraft is hard to intercept and shot at by AA weapons. Better attack values. Also, the recon move trait can be maintained (useful to avoid flak units in the flight path). Spotting reduced (because of low height).
Not much visual change to the icon possible.. But setting it in a lower position (with its shadow closer to the aircraft), and pointing its machine gun upwards (attackers can only come from above), might be sufficient to make it identifiable from the other switch state..

Another, "just for fun" unit... One that may be, can also be useful for the Gear Krieg mod that is about to take shape... The X-Com zombies!
Straight from the X-Com world, thay arrived here to cause problems and nothing more... I read about the idea of using those units as "mines" living them doemant behind advancing enemy lines and then making them "wake up" to start wrecking things... Very well thought! I think the "mines" can be given the shape of small coffins...
I hope you like the little monsters...

Great guille!, when the time comes I will try to experiment with switchable Po-2.
LOL, beautiful x-com units!.

Revisiting the Kadzchen. I'm afraid I'm not very good at this, but it will give you an idea what I want. I grafted a PaK 50 on the Kadzchen, cause I want an APC with just a little anti tank "punch" on top of being able to withstand a substantial amount firepower. Attached my badly done sample; the gun is in the wrong position for instance. Alternatively, I can just pretend the regular Kadzchen is equipped with a dedicated crewman armed with PanzerFausts and adjust the stats accordingly. After all my personal fun mod isn't entirely based on reality.
If you can find the time (no rush!!), could you try to paint a slightly larger gun on your original model?

jmac: Ok, I will see what I can do...
Now, it is the turn for the reinforcement to the Hungarian forces... Here is a infantry type units pack, which include HW Infantry (in 1939 and 1944 versions, AT and AA modes) and also, fullfilling a request made by Agustin Malar, a Maxim Heavy Machine Gun unit, also in AA and AT modes.
I hope you like them! Enjoy!

Jmac: Here is what I thimk it would be a possible configuration for a vehicle like you specified... But, I think the 5 cm Pak is a fairly large weapon for such a small vehicle, It is not that the chassis could not whitstand the recoil forces and weight of the gun (as a matter of fact, Hetzers mounted a bigger and more powerful 7,5 gun) but this being a compact vehicle, this variant would probably have its troop carrier capacity somewhat reduced... May be installing a 2,8 cm sPB heavy At rifle or an AT rocket launcher, like the Puppchen? They offered a little less anti-armor performance or range (in case of the rockets), but they would take much less space inside the hull. On the other hand, as you say, this unit can be a "What if?" one, and anyone can use it if they like...
By the way, technically speaking, I used the superstructure of the Sdkfz 233 and the mantlet and gun barrel of the Sdkfz 234-2 Puma, which looked more in scale with the vehicle hull size. Also as a by product, made a 7,5 cm short gun recon support vehicle of the basic model.
If you think the basic icons are Ok, I will proceed to make their masks.
Cheers!

Having read your reasoning, I'd say the icon with the small gun (Katzchen_7,5cm_StuG) is best. I just want an APC that is able to do *some* damage (say HA 6 to 10 max) to armor, but is basically still an APC. Heh. I have an E-50 variant, from the sames series as the E-100 Tiger Maus, which looks like a BMP or a M3 Bradley; speaking of what ifs...

All I need now is an HMG unit for the Poles and your task will be completed.

Agustin: Yes, the Polish HMG is in the design phase...

I dont want this lot of units to be much "lookalikes" so I will try to give each country a more or less "unique" style. Stay tuned.
Akkula: Here I introduce you my friends, from the Soviet Naval Infantry forces, they are a nice bunch of gentlemen, so I hope you like them!

They came in two versions, early and late war.
Enjoy!

I haven't read much about the Kätzchen yet, but the SdKfz 251/22 (see LuftWFJ44's units) with its 7.5 cm Pak 40 seemed to have worked too, as it was built about 268 times. I bet the Kätzchen could handle the Pak 40 too then, but we will never know for sure.

Amazing!, now we have some elite units for the red army!. Thanks guille, they will appear in my second scenario, so they are really welcome
I think I will use the same sound I used for the shock troops.

Horst: Indeed, as the katzchen was designed as a sucessor to the Sdkfz 251, all or nearly all the variants that were built on the 251 chassis, were planned for this new model. Till now I saw the following variants in internet images (no real thing photos regrettably): 7,5 L/24 short gun, 60 cm Infrared Searchlight carrier (Uhu), Engineers vehicle with bridging equipment (like Sdkfz 251/7), and flamethrower vehicle (like Sdkfz 251/16), besides the MG armed basic troop carrier variant.
Akkula: I am very glad you like the units, and I will be proud if you give them some use in your project(s)!

Actually I was thinking to open a post about my project to see if there is some interest on it. Right now I am still working in the "mod core" (new units, camos, sounds, UI graphics, etc) and finishing the campaign tree. I think my project would take until end of the year at least to be released.

No problem man, take your time. I always think that is better to wait for a top quality product, than to have an early release with bugs... Thumbs up!
Count me in for assisntance in the icons dept!

I took the liberty of adjusting the colors with a color match and making the masks to save you some time and trouble.
