The Brian the Bishop of Durham and Lord Protector of the Northern Counties meets Sir Doley of Ripley, Decorated Dresser, Castilian of Ripley Castle, and Lord Lieutenant of Derbyshire with his army on the Lancashire border
Meanwhile, The Sheriff of Nottingham seizes the West Riding in the name of the King as Snugglebunny of Hull made Lord Lieutenant of Hull and the East Riding (otherwise known as the Grand ole Duke of York) marches his 10000 men back to the NW Yorkshire border

May be a daft question, but do I assume correctly that even though both Snugglesbunnies and I have adjacent friendly armies, that the fact that they are both involved in their own battle in 41 negates them, and as such our fight in 35 will just be a straightforward 1050pt battle?

In addition - am I correct that Kelen and I are in a simple open battle? Also, is our terrain potluck or agricultural, taking place in the north...?

Rules on page two state
Attacking into an unoccupied province or both attempting to enter opponents county = open battle... always pot luck terrain
except for ....rule ammendment
All counties including Ireland (Down and Antrim) should restrict the terrain to Agricultural except...
Staffordshire (25),Derbyshire (32), Cheshire (33), Lancashire (34), Yorkshire (35-37) , Cumberland (40), Westmoreland (41), Northern Counties (38-41),Monmouthshire and Wales (42-44), and Scotland (45-47) can be Pot luck due to either heavily forested or mountains present.
Agricultural ... You are both on the borders between N and W Riding of Yorkshire... hence nice there this time of year gentle rolling hills and peaceful dales probably on the southern edge of the ancient Wapentake of Halikeld near the city of Ripon, or possibly Knaresborough in the Harrogate District (do drop in to Betty's teahouse... absolutely scummy!)
At the same time, Doley and Warlord will be Pot luck terrain as they are on the Lancashire/Cumberland border...picturesque there this time of year but full of trees, lakes, and hills I believe!

ummmm... both reinforcing cancels each other and yes you both have two counties, one of which is your home county so 1050 pts each
but you are both
flying columns remember!

Gavin, .Kerry the lost Irishman and I have begun our clash. 1,000 points each (I have 1100 he 1050). Agricultural, open battle but I'm a Cornish royalist flying column. If this is incorrect please advise and we'll start again. Andre Deveraux, Duke of Cornwall, Devon and all the Southwest

Autumn rains in Northern Wales have abated and the troops were finally able to ford the flooded rivers .
Kerry 3rd Earl of Southampton, Lord lieutenant of Hampshire and Keeper of the Keys at Winchester attempts to head off the rampaging Cornishmen before they reach London
The Brian the Bishop of Durham and Lord Protector of the Northern Counties meets Sir Doley of Ripley, Decorated Dresser, Castilian of Ripley Castle, and Lord Lieutenant of Derbyshire with his army on the Lancashire border

Good luck to all those Gentlemen fighting for their respective causes... may your endeavours bear just fruit (so you can all make just juice...that's one for the Kiwi's

)
One question I do have for you all is... If Damatrois would like to continue I also have two eager players who would also like the opportunity to frolick in the green fields of dear ol' England does anyone object if I start them deep inside your respective territories... maybe Parliamentarian Triarius in Kent (county 2) and Royalist Kingi in Cornwall 20 (your thoughts?)

Gavin, Triarius is a good bloke although he obviously has a rebellious streak beneath the placid exterior, and young Kingi will make a solid better than average Cornishman. So I am happy to share the south with both of them until we crush this pathetic revolt in the very near future

My only observation is that by starting Kingi in 20 Awsum4 will be giving up one of his counties, but by starting Triarius in 2, the rebels would be gaining an extra one, (that and he'll have an adjacent unoccupied county to expand into). Which doesn't seem fantastically fair on either Kingi, (who has 2 counties to go just to reach the front line, let alone have the possibility of gaining a county!), or the game as whole. I would have thought it fairer to either start both of them in either occupied or unoccupied counties.
Just a thought.

If Damatrois would like to continue
Is Damatrios withdrawing from the fray ?
I would have thought it fairer to either start both of them in either occupied or unoccupied counties.
Yes I agree.
Maybe throw them into vacant counties abreast of each other ?

Good point Kelen! The only spare provinces are 12, 7, 6, 5, 3 and 2...
we could leave it to chance to determine which county?

I think Damatrois is continuing unless he advises me otherwise. In the meantime we need to get our friends up and running... I agree with your observation though... my intention was to bring them in without having an immediate effect on either sides strategy (I intended them to be roving bands but I failed tp account for County two being vacant!) What's your thought on random placement in unoccupied counties?
Another thought could be a thousand point army with no home county or ability to capture counties, rather they are a newly raised republican army and a Irish catholic army (or a Scottish royalist uprising) ...and for every battle won they add 50pts ?

Go with random. Spontaneous uprising in, as of yet, undecided counties.

Either way
Option A Using a random generated number between 30 and 49 for Irish/Scottish Royalist uprising generates
45 and 1 to 30 for parliamentarian uprising generates
30 for Parliament
otherwise
Option B Randomly generating two numbers for 2,3,5,6,7, and 12 generates
3 and 2 (genuinely by randon generator and pure chance)
State your preferred option = voting closing tomorrow 12 pm Pacific time
