No prob, although because it is you, I may add some very small italics stating, "All practice games with chosen LOEG armies is acceptable. However in the case of Dave Ruddock, he will be deducted 1 point per second of practice game" LOL Sarcasm will get you nowhere LOEL.

Div C

Jonathan4290 (Timurids) 9/34 defeats Okie (Khwarizman) 25/25

Timurids held the high ground, allowing the center and right to hold while a combined arms flanking force of elephants/MF bow/cavalry defeated the Khwarizman left wing. The Timurid center also joined in the attack once it gained momentum.

Londo 26/45 (Anglo-Irish L) vs Jonathan4290 (Timurid 1360-1500) 28/28

Londo 19/45 (Anglo-Irish L) vs greetings44 (Wallachian 1441-1500) 43/43

I think Anglo-Irish is one of the best armies in all of FOG, and it's particularly hard for cavalry armies to fight them. In the above games, I don't know what my opponents could have done better, but they still lost by quite a wide margin in BPs. I like Anglo-Irish because it's an almost perfect "combined-arms" team, with a combination of:

* Solid HF (Superior, Protected, HW) - a steal at only 9 points each!
* Longbowmen (Average, Protected, Longbow, Swordsmen) - the best missile infantry in the game, with stakes if you need them.
* Useful cavalry (Superior, Armoured, LS, Swordsmen) who aren't prone to anarchy charges like damned lancers!
* Cheapo MF (Average, Protected, LS) to bulk out the army and fight in rough terrain.

I think they're the best all-round Medieval army, though you could make a case for Medieval Crown of Aragon (Early), with its Superior Impact MF. Does anyone have any other candidates? :)

Forgot to mention this one:

Londo (Anglo-Irish L) 28/46 vs Dave_r (Swiss) 53/51

Ugly terrain, with ditches and scrub everywhere, made things impossible for the Swiss.

I wonder if halberdiers should have the option of deploying as MF, not just HF? I thought they were more mobile and flexible than pikes, and for that reason used to cover the flanks of pike blocks.

Having halberdier MF would give armies like the Swiss a chance in bad terrain, rather than being basically a foregone conclusion as it is now.

Div. B

voskarp (WotR Richard III) [44/44] vs Solly (Santa Hermada Nueva Castilian) [46/45]

A draw... The English knights lined up on high ground while the archers marched off to rain some death on the advancing pike- and spearmen. A couple of longbow units got caught in a bog and was cut down by skilled swordsmen and Almughavars.

With the Spanish line closing in the archers took refuge in a forrest, and the knights braced for impact. On the English right flank the Spanish equites were held up on a strip of steep hills between a lake and the edge of the map by some poor archers and a sub commander.

The following melee was brutal and battle groups were routed left and right. Jinetes raided the English camp and the longbows on the right flank had a hard time dealing with the Almughavars and skilled swordsmen. Eventually the English knights beat the pikemen and moved of to help the archers on the flanks, but it was too late...

The last turn was so exciting I almost fell of my chair, several times!

Thanks for a good game Solly!

Division A
Lysimachos (Catalan Company) 23/48 Tiavals (Scots in Britain) 58/52

A strange battle where in the 1st phase the Catalans launched ahead their LF and cavalry archers to pepper with missile fire the opponents HF, in the process loosing about 10 pts and prompting a reaction of the enemy on both flanks.
After a steady retreat of my outnumbered right wing, the charge of the Almughavar in the centre and on the left flank completely routed the Scottish spearmen hacking them to pieces before their left wing could arrive.
A victory mostly due to the inherent strongness of this army rather than to the skillness of his commander!

ZumHeuriger and Claymore,

I'll pick up your challenges tomorrow. I've got company coming in and need to slow down on game play. Or find a new wife.

It'll probably be easier to slow down on the gaming.
