The army list changes are detailed within the main rules, so it's not essential now, but future updates are likely to be delivered via the electronic versions.

They don't have a pc (of any kind) so can't use the digital version of the rules, and print on demand would be too expensive (10p a sheet at a library). Several people offered to do the printing for him, but its now a matter of principle.
Something for Slitherine to consider in future. Not everyone has a computer.
From having been in the publishing business, "Print on Demand" means that the publishers are not going to keep a huge stock on hand, and that when they get an order, they will then print out a copy and send it to you.
Printing and binding has developed to the point that a single machine can print, collate, bind the pages and do a face-cut on them, and then put a hard-cover on the book (a real hard-cover). If you have the money, you can even get machines that do stitching of pages.

I much prefer the eBooks.
It would be nice if they updated the eBook app to include all of the typical functions one finds with other eBooks though (search, bookmark, skip to page, return to last selected page, skip to bookmark, the ability to copy-paste selected quotes from the eBook*, and so on).
But having a hard-copy would be nice as well.
* The copy-paste function is available in every eBook I have ever bought, from iBooks, Kindle, Nook, and other in-App eReaders, such as Coursesmart, Magazine Apps, Newspapers, etc.
The copy-paste function also gives bibliographic content as part of the copy-paste, and notification of the Publisher is the amount of copying seems like an infringement of the copyright. This helps in making it difficult to lift an entire article or chapter of a book, and sends a request to the publisher for permissions where appropriate

We took the opportunity to incorporate the errata and the army list changes in the proper places in the digital army list book.
However, the errata are available on the fieldofglory.com site (as they have been all along), and the army list amendments are stated in a new Appendix in V2 of the rule book.
