Thank you very much Massi, very kind...as the tiles were already done I just had to throw them together...

thx a lot ...I do my very best to hold up to expectations...

btw I looked at civfanatics and other civ sites and couldnt find the mod you mentioned...do you have a link or know where I can find it ?...I would love to dl it..I would reinstall Civ 3 only to give it a try..I loved Civ III,especially the Conquests Expansions...ohh.sweet memories

well..I really hope that in the end I can hold up to all the expectations and that the AI is able to maneuver stuff on the big map ...

I can make sure the rest such like AI core unit composition and purchase but if the AI can not move stuff...Iam doomed

chris10............
You are not doomed if the AI gets bogged down. Just make the maps smaller if things get too hairy and complicated for the AI. Tie the maps/scenarios together in a string of scenarios. They will flow naturally and no one would ever need to complain, not even the AI. The tempo and flavor of the game will not change that much and it will still be the fantastic one of a kind mod everyone wants to play. One good part of doing it this way ( among many) is that you have maps already made to fall back to if your army fails to win a victory. You just move them back to the previous or earlier scenario-map with changed variables and play it over again. They can recoup the initiative in the subsequent scenario or if weakened more, continue to fall back to the previous scenario as in the real war. It's a natural. One map to the next and vice versa.
In my group of maps one Army group comes to the next phase of maps to campaign side by side with another Army Group as they proceed together and then split up to go different directions in the next larger Strategic Map playing on smaller maps and their scenarios. Then they all come together again to gain the next Strategic Map and its smaller maps and scenarios. The maps flow in ALL directions with the scenarios just like a BIG HUGE map. You can have several large Strategic maps and each can contain several scenario maps scripted to play in co-ordination and time sequence within the Strategic Map. Then the Strategic Map changes to another large Strategic Map with other smaller maps contained within again tied with scenarios to play out win or lose within these maps of the Strategic Map.
But I wish you success to making things work as you originally intend it to. I just want to encourage you to consider Plan B if it becomes necessary. Because I know Plan B as I outlined above works on a HUGE scale no matter how many maps you have.

But flakfernrohr, even though that would still be great I don't think it would be quite the same. Because in these individual scenarios how do you want to determine WHAT and WHERE the units are?

Flak is doing a mod that does exactly what he's talking about.
I 've seen the maps and some of the units.
I'm sure it's a matter of scripting and victory conditions and campaing paths combined
I can't wait see what the campaign will look like,so far he's been like the prudish High School Prom Queen some of us knew in High School..........
A BIG TEASE

Of course I would consider planB Dwight...do you really think I seriously throw about 80 hours, which is what the map took from scratch to finish, out of the window ?...

...no fuc#######ing way
alex0809 wrote:But flakfernrohr, even though that would still be great I don't think it would be quite the same.
yeah...the big map brings this epic feeling ...knowing its all or nothing...strategic considerations; troop deployment over great distances by rail ; bringing reinforcements from the Reich to the front; lines stretching thin and all these grand strategy things which only work when there is enough "space"...
airbornemongo101 wrote:

absolutely..without a doubt that works...yet I still would opt for making the biG thingi if the engine allows me for doin it

Hi Chris10, I did not mean to imply you would be throwing ANY work out the window because when you have ONE or even several GIANT MAPS, it becomes easier to cut them into overlapping scenario or campaign maps. So you have done all the hardest part once you have done the BIG map (when it comes to mapping). I have been there albiet on a smaller scale a bit versus your 10KM per hex. One thing I found in making overlapping scenario maps for a campaign, you sometimes wind up with some maps that do not have so many towns and interesting physical things to capture, so I added Soviet Supply Depots, airfields and Army Bases, defensive lines and positions out in the middle of nowhere or along RR lines.
I hope your campaign will leave some play for the RR and armored trains and some River Patrol boats (like Schnellbootes and Marine operations). So many rivers in Russia utilized water traffic travel and logistics. These can add a new twist to a campaign especially along the Dneiper, Don, Oka, Volga, Sura, Kama, Betaya, Samara, Sylvia, Ufa and Ural Rivers.
I for one would truly appreciate and LOVE with all my "PZC heart" for your GIANT GRAND STRATEGY mod to work exactly as you plan. And what is more you've now got about 300 or so different skins to use for your icons and so many great icons thanks to these guys on this forum.
I'm not gonna say I can't wait because I have some comprehension of your work and its complexity, the amount of thought, time and effort required BEFORE you even want to put it up for BETA. But I will say that I wait for it with much anticipation and good vibes. My tanks and men are ready.
AND, you make maps the way I like.

would the german baltic fleet (Tirpitz first mission in 1941 blocking Leningrad to avoid russian fleet sally),the russian baltic fleet, the romanian fleet (as small as it was) and the russian black sea fleet among dozens and dozens of patrol boats blocking bridges (cause thats what the AI uses them for) suffice ?
It will be all in

...
what is the RR
btw...a big thnx for your and everybody elses encouragement...it means a lot to me

ah..ok

thnx...yeah...railoads will be of key strategic value for the player..there have been only a few and even they had to be reworked completely by the german military as the russian railsystem used a different track width...especially in the south there was only one single-track railroad coming from the donetz bassin..this was the main reason why the supply situation in the south was so bad cause trains had to wait on a station/storage sidings to let pass another train heading in the opposite direction. Additionally rail capacity had to be shared between military/supply and coal transport from the dontez bassin. Problem here was that the ucranian coal was a lot more energy efficient for industrial usage but german locomotives could not burn it but had to bring thousands of tons of good german brown coal with them in order to assure supply along the rail track from the Ucraine towards the Reich. This diminished even further the very restricted transport capacity in the southern front.

PANZERCORPS EAST MAP COMPLETELY FINISHED
Finally the map is completely finished with all bridges, crossroads, river connections, shallow waters, fabrics, refinerys, pathetic villages, small villages, medium villlages, big villages, small citys, medium citys, big citys, huge citys...errr...exhausted...
I add some screens of some areas... It think the final look isnt to bad...
Since german units are all coded next step will be coding of additional russian and lend lease units followed by axis minors >
placing all units on the map and the thing is good to go.....ahhh...if only it would be that easy
FINAL LENINGRAD
FINAL MOSCOW
FINAL BREST LITOVSK > PRIPYAT MARSHES
FINAL BUCHAREST > PLOESTI
FINAL KIEV
FINAL DONETZ BASSIN

Great Chris10............HUGE MAP IS FINISHED! Now time to rest, sit back, admire your work and think with a clear head about the next step. They look absolutely great. Just the right kind of maps I love. Most people will not take the time to make these kinds of maps as you know. Many people want simple maps, but there are those of us who like and love these kinds of maps.
