Intentional.

I was just trying out SoE Redux, but this makes me think twice. Aren't you destroying the game? Next is Trophies of War? Then killer team? And the power four? What will be left? There are other ways to improve game balance for 'expert' players (game is indeed too easy).

This is an intentional change that the testers and I wrestled with. It was a decision that was made because it is difficult to balance around from this perspective: A player chooses Industry Connections and gets new equipment sooner. To offer unique prestige, commendation, and elite point rewards, especially for equipment, we have to dig deeper and deeper into equipment that won't be available via Industry Connections for quite awhile.

There is no intention to change Trophies of War, Killer Team, etc. Traits that are available from the last update are the traits that should be available going forward [baring any trait rework by Slitherine's part].

so now, the prototype concept will function strickly as rewards, gifts, randomly added to equipment pool, ??

Essentially.

Thanks for the clarification, and for the reasoning behind the choice.

now that prototypes are not continually introduced, the negative Retrograde Commander trait is much more punitive. have considered this and making it a -3 instead of -2?

It is good to go. Mostly waiting on 7th Panzer Division DLC to see if there are any new models (doubtful).

In the mean time, I'm revising/refining a few scenarios in 1939, right now mostly Warsaw and Kampinos Forest. I want to touch up Bzura and Kock a bit.

There will be no issue, if you played SOE Redux SCW + 1939, you can import into SOE 1940.

I have a question. I had tried a little SoE Redux and forgot to disable the mod. When I then played the first scenario of 'Panzer Corps 2: Elite - Ghost Division' I could buy totally overpowered units like the Bf 109E5R Reconnaissance-Fighter-Bomber:
only 1 slot - 70 Prestige, spotting 4, range 19, soft att 1, hard att 1, air att 4, ini 3, air def 8, Fast Rebase. The unit does not exist in the standard game (nor, I would guess, should such an overpowered unit exist at all). On the other hand, the Sturmpanzer 1 (4 slots!) was reduced to a firing range of 1 (SIG33 also) which is very bad. And so on.

Is it really unavoidable that SoE interferes with unrelated DLC's in this way (if you forget to disable it)?

Yes. Always disable mods if playing DLCS.

With the release of 1940 Part 1, all of the original campaigns have been improved and new content ending the Battle of France released.

I have mentioned before, Part 2 is where things will begin to truly go alternate historical.

I have thought about this deeply and while I enjoy historical settings; the campaigns in Yugoslavia, the Balkans, and the Eastern Front have been done and endless amount of times. This is not to say that the alternate campaigns will not take us there; rather I would prefer to visit these locations in alternate historical world.

I have begun more in-depth planning and scenario design for 1940 Part 2; which tentatively has 15 scenarios dealing with the Battle of Britain and culminating in the Battle of the Isle of Wight.

The campaign will then turn south into Spain; which we will revisit. There is still resistance to Franco's recent victory in the Spanish Civil War. What will it take to get the Spanish on the Axis side?

Lastly, we visit the Balkans; which will have path dependent scenarios. The campaign ends with the "early" capitulation of Greece.

Thanks for the great work!
I'm still trying to figure out which settings work best. It shouldn't be too easy, of course, but not too difficult either. 8)
