Mr Cholo(Lidians) defeats Random27(Spartans) 47-62.

Score 73-42

Lidians played thinking in the numerichal superiority and trying to flanking. It was not easy due to Random did a very good anti-flanking movement. I could fall back my weak flank and I had time to toke advantage thanks to some gaps which appeared in the centre. My irregular foot could hold their possition against hoplites just the time I needed for flanking and that is all.

Thanks for the battle, well played both, and good luck for the rest of the torunament

Two very closely fought battles. The first, we had them on the ropes for several turns but the Spanish managed to hang on and pull even with a final gasp.

In a really tough game the Spartan quality and heavy armoured hoplites finally drove the Carthaginians off their hills.

Dreddradish (Thracian) defeats Stew101 (Syracusan) 44 - 18

While excellent tactics picked apart the Thracian left flank a few impetuous charges chasing down skirmishers compromised the Syracusan centre which collapsed before their flanking maneuver could bear fruit.

Div C - BobGanoush leads XLegione , Triarii can still catch both of them.

Div F - The most closely fought division, Ulysisgrunt can overtake iversonjm if he can get two wins against the latest FoG2 rising star.

Div G - Just two games left and the positions still uncertain between frederic, mcfcivo and nonovitch.

Div H - fudwuppel looks to have dropped out, Kashtronomical will have it over ZeCid.

Stew101 (Thracians Gallic) defeats Dreddradish (Syracrusan).

On an interesting map with lots of useful terrain positions for both sides the outnumbered Thracian foot massed their combat might on their left flank. They attacked on this flank, with their line hinged on a small lake. The lake stopped the Syracrusans making use of their greater numbers. The centre and right were a meftutual contest where both sides manoevred for a telling advantage.
The match then was decided on Thracian left.
What can I say sometimes warbands just sweep away everything in their path!

A couple of very enjoyable games - my thanks to Dreddradish.

Dreddradish (Achaemenid Persian) defeats Aetius39 (Spartan) 60 - 39

On the left the Spartans pushed easily through a floundering Persian retreat while in the centre/right the Persians were able to provoke some mistimed assaults that led to the hoplite line breaking up and being defeated in detail.

Dreddradish (Spartan) defeats Aetius39 (Persian) 63 - 44

With each side deploying to different flanks of the field the battle started with a long period of maneuver. The Persians were able to create a favourable engagement and enjoyed early successes however the depth of Spartan reserves allowed them to push into contact crushing the Sparabara in melee. Well played to Aetius.

Two final games to report for the Div

nyzcar Selucid (300-206) Loses to Holien Ptolemaic (217-167) 63% to 53%

Scores Holien 67 to nyczar 53

This was a tight game that was swung at the end by some bad luck for the Selucid army who broke on some last minute charge attempts. While some of the Ptolemaic units rallied after being defeated earlier in the battle as they had some quiet time with their attached general to encourage them back into the fight.

A real slugfest of a fight with the Ptolemaic forces circled up on the hill being harried by the remaining Cavalry and some mediums of the Selucid forces. Neither side could land the killing blow.

Thanks to my excellent opponent who made these last two matches enjoyable and with plenty of banter.
