It was
me
.
Jokes aside, it's a dummy player for when there is no pair to one of the players:
"If there are an odd number of player, the player in last place will have no opponent and gets awarded a win or BYE. A BYE will get you almost a maximum score so you do not get penalized for having no opponent."

Nice one mate - didn't know that! Spent a good minute looking for the nick on the list ;-)

I caught it. I was just playing along. I was sure thrysiak had caught it, too, from his response.

Another random thought... Sorry. My mind is like a steel trap - full of mice.
A player can click on another player's name in the score list to see that player's multi-player profile. Why can Slitherine not add that player's time zone to that profile, with the time zone relative to UTC. That would eliminate a lot of problems with turn timing.

In general 7 days for round is a joke. If you and your opponent are not commited to check email x times a day and play round after that its not possible to finish all turns. At least 14 days for round please and game will be playable in tournaments.

Why is it that when the German player achieves his victory goals on the last turn of a game, the Russian player cannot counter? The game isn't 19 1/2 turns, is it?
And if the game is supposed to end when the German player captures all the victory hexes, why does the Russian player not win immediately? He controls more than two of those hexes. He met the conditions.

This is a great game. Too bad it’s creators cannot implement a coherent tournament scoring method. The second tournament is a bigger mess than the first. The administrators apparently don't understand how demotivating it is to have a seeming random scoring system. Worse, no attempt to explain, or correct the problem. This is why REAL software developers employee people with communication skills to communicate and relate to other humans.

Slitherine, get your point rules in order - 2000 points for not playing a game is a fecking joke and a half. I have fallen to 10th position (which his fine) as there are 5 guys with 2000 point bonus ahead of me. What is NOT fine is that the person who is third, has 4000 points - by getting 2000 points in each round.
And the best thing is that Shards could have probably gotten there himself judging from his previous tourney performance so I am not having a go at the person but rather the pure absurd of current rule set up...
What's the point?
Okay, Shards is supposed to move first in round three. I know it's early in the round, but he hasn't scored a point yet.
Wouldn't it be ironic if he doesn't play at all and the game is declared a tie? 1000 point would give him third place, possibly second. I don't suppose a scoreless tie would give him 2000 points for the outright crap win, but it could happen.
This is what we've been talking about. Scoring for consolation points should be near the top of the to-do list.

haha, you playing Shards dude? Good thing its not me - I'd probably surrender my game and let him score 6000 points and win tournament without playing a single fucking round as a way of protesting against this bullshit 2000 rule and having inactive players in it in the first place ;-)

P.S: Don't do it!

P.S2: Seriously, do not do it ;-)

About that surrender thing...
That guy would have to change his user name or create a new account. Shards would, too.
Perhaps Shards isn't playing in order to protest the points bonanza.
And, no, I wouldn't surrender. Besides, the surrender option in the menu drop down box is dithered. Can't do it anyway.

What i miss, is a possibility to speak with the opponent,

You don´t see if he wrote or answered you, and later in the next round all writen is gone,...
the chat from panzer corps 1 was better, ....much better, and it was easier to figuere out when both have time to play or in what time zone both are living,...

with this chat it´s quiet complicted to communicate and speak with each other!!! this they should change!!! better sooner than later!!

I agree I have tried several times to chat with opponents to arrange some game time but never get a response. Somebody with a good understanding needs to post a user guide to help and encourage players to chat it would help game turns and enjoyment.

I hear that I am being discussed!!

First up, sorry for not getting the game started yet, somewhat busy getting the 1942 DLC ready for release during the day and the evenings are taken up by the European Championships :)

Not that there's much for you to be afraid of, Panzer Corps is probably my weakest game of our tournament games (I generally agree that I should NOT be in third after two rounds of no opponents :D ).

I'll try to get deployment done asap at least

The chat was working normally a few patches ago. Then they broke it and haven't fixed it ever since.

OUCH, yeah deploying the DLC mid tourney may not have been the best idea then ;-)
No worries mate, hope we can get this sorted - having fun in the games so far!

Glad you end up being "one of the reptile guys" - maybe you could relay the feedback posted in this thread to the team to get some folks to build on it and use some of the stuff that is easier to implement to enhance future tourneys? I honestly think the guys came up with some good ideas to combat the non participating members, adjusting the 2000 point rule that allows some non playing members to nearly win *cough cough* (I am risking a ban here, I know LOL) fixing the early win bonus, adding a RULES STICKY to lvl the playing field and a few others. Overall, think people are having fun but few issues cause a bit of a grief ;-)

Anyways, keep up the good job guys!
