The software told me at the end that I had a 'Glorious Victory' but the score indicates how close this game was. On the last move I thought there was a good chance we would both end over 60 but one of my fragmented units held on just long enough. My compliments to OmegaOm for a very well fought game.

rafydedel ancient British+Roman defeats Frederic 02 avars 50-15

On a hilly terrain, the two armies stretched themselves to deploy on the full width of the battlefield, resulting in three separate battlefront. Avars superior cavalry was not lucky with their pursuit, which often placed them in a bad position. At the same time, ancient British had very good results with their artillery.
Compounding effects of poor pursuits, poor cavalry terrain and good shooting were fatal to the avars.

Early lead by Byzantines stalled as the Avar lancers did some good damage, but ultimately the Avar flanks fell and slowly they were routed. GG!

Clever Pict manoeuvring drew the Normans into a series of tricky positions: but once the heavy foot got to work they managed to grind their way out of trouble.

"Nightfall has saved the enemy from utter defeat..." but I'd put a lot of the ending score on IMC sticking to his guns and pushing large amounts of my cavalry off the back of the map! I was overconfident given the open field and did not do enough to get my center out to the sides.
