Morat Carthaginian (Hannibal in Italy) 216-203 + Samnite 355-272 allies defeated FireknightBarcelona Macedonian 320-261 + Greek 280-228 allies: 61-39

Wide open plain saw both armies deployed in extended line. Carthaginians decided to give up on the right flank in the face of a sizeable Macedonia cavalry contingent and flood their forces left. They suffered badly during the redeployment, throwing a few units in to slow their opponents down.

On redeployment the superior Carthaginian infantry numbers rapidly told - including exploiting retreats on both sides to get at flanks. In the end this was enough to get over the line.

The Carthaginian heavy cavalry was diverted from rear attacks on the Legionnaires in their first four attempts by Roman light horse and foot but when the charges finally struck home, they had a devasting effect on the Roman battle line.

Aetius (Sea People) defeats Stones1985 (Lydian) 60-40


The Sea People infantry pushed back and broke the other infantry line in several places, but the Lydian cavalry got some good flanks and broke the left side. A few good turns and some luck had the Sea People eventually routing the Lydians. GG!

Nearly a stalemate, but some lucky charges ended it too quickly before the comeback - well played.

With three weeks to go here are the latest standings. Still plenty to play for.

Stones look swell played with point son the board, but both Random27 and Aeitius39 have better averages and with Aetius not starting until late he looks to be the one to beat.
Div B
Morat and Garokan are both well placed on the shoulder of leader Nosferatu, but to be honest anyone in the top 6 are still in the running.
Div C
If points on the board are anything to go by Ryaid has this, but good runs from IMC, mejobo or fogman could easily bring home the top spot.

Please make sure you get the games finished before 31 March. Even if you cant get a position your game can and will make a difference and you can still give the eventual divisional winner a virtual bloody nose.

Having checked the challenges, there seems to be only 6 games unstarted at this pint. Please make sure you start these as soon as possible.

Nosferatu (Croatian) defeats Morat (Norman w French) 41:13

The Normans opted for a boxy formation using a hill on their right and rough terrain in the center as a defensive cover which looked formidable with their heavy armored infantry. However, the Croatians were thus free to surround the box on both sides and the Norman cavalry protecting their left was outnumbered by the Croatian cavalry and a few units were distracted by a single pursuit, allowing the Croatian cavalry to pounce and destroy that wing. As the units engaged, enough cracks appeared in the Norman line, allowing the less armoured, but more numerous Croatians to pour in and the Normans routed. Thanks to Morat for an interesting match.

This closes my TDC Dark Ages challenge, with 7 wins and 2 close defeats, I am satisfied. Good luck to all in the remaining games.
