Triarii German 933-1049 AD with Polish 966-1057 AD allies
46-17.
Turn 2 from the Auxumite camp.
The Germans having opted to largely fight this battle with their best troops on foot advanced along the river contracting their front as they went while lengthining their trailing right flank.
The left flank of the soldiers of Christ advanced rapidly forward into the woods then turned right to envelope and assault the increasingly extended German right flank while the centre and right contacted the enemy front and corner of their line forward of the rough and held their best long enough for the flank fight to resolve.
Turn 11, the decisive moment just before an avalanche of rear attacks smashed German hopes of mainting their line and holding back the tide.
The vagaries of RNG matter little with so many flanks flapping in the breeze. Salute!

In Division C
SawyerK leading the Libyan 1250-651 BC army and Sea Peoples ally
drew with
RussellGardener1964 and his Assyrian 890-746 BC army
by 38 to 26 (Russell lost 38, SawyerK lost 26).
The Libyans deployed on a broad front but laboriously repositioned their entire army to their initial right flank based on the Assyrian defense lines. As a result, 17 moves were off the board by the time the battle lines joined, and nightfall dropped before either army could claim victory.

The Danish foot took very heavy losses to missiles and light lancers charging units which had failed cohesion tests. However, their allied Keils and Men at Arms did reach the Ottoman foot and artillery and wreaked destruction.
A finely balanced game until the Keils arrived.

Division A
Challenge1 Achaemenid Persian 545-481 defeated klayeckles Pergamene 190-129 64-47
With every man and his dog carrying a bow in the Persian army, the Pergamenes were reluctant to make their acquaintance, prompting a lot of manoeuvring on both sides which ulimately swung the battle axis by 90 degrees.
The Pergamenes approached the Persian bows warily and did stalwart work recycling their disrupted units before more arrows could rout them but the battle lines were drawn and as reluctant as the Persian bowmen were, more and more were drawn into melee.
The battle raged backwards and forwards, the Persian line was broken on the left only for the gaps to be plugged by some returning cavalry and as the sun began to set, the battle looked to be heading for a draw. Offering prayers to Ahura Mazda the Persian cavalry went on the rampage scoring 22 points in the last 2 turns to snatch victory out of the carnage with the unpredictability that only cavalry can provide.
A really fun match against a very sporting opponent who could have settled for a draw early on but made a game of it and didn't deserve to lose.

Mejobo's Khazars defeat Indibil's Franks 41-13
A quick battle on a very scenic shoreside field decided by the cavalry combats on the left and right flank. The prominent small rough hill in the center right (from Khazar POV) between the armies provided a very useful anchor for massed archers to help decide the battle on the side, while forests and the shoreline compressed the left flank combat in a way that slowed that side of the battle down in a way that ultimately favored the Khazar mix of cavalry types.

Division B aka Division 2
Chris Townsend's English 1155 defeated IMC's German (imperial) 1155 w/Free Canton 60 to 55.
This was mostly flat terrain, except for a opposing hills on the English right that actually switched sides during the battle

To the right of those hills, the English knights quickly bested their opposing numbers - and then spent a big piece of time pursuing! Meanwhile, the German dismounted knights made mince meat to the English Infantry, and the Free Canton spearmen, with crossbow support, cleverly maneuvered to contain the remaining mounted knights. Somehow, the English knights returned to the German side of the two hills, which, together with some excellent rallying by English leaders, meant that the German infantry was assailed from two sides, before the Free Canton spearmen could complete their support march.
Both sides were very fragile at the end, and it could easily have gone either way! Good game!
