rockmanbob123 Milanese defeats IMC English 68-49

The English longbows took a heavy toll on the Milanese knights, but terrain favored the heavy horse and in the end the battle went to the knights.

Sorry, but I just noticed the casualties are off on this (maybe accidentally recorded another game's results?)

Anyway...

Garokan (Romans) defeats Aetius (Byzantines) 64-57 ^^
That´s right. My mistake. Sorry.

Division B aka Division 2

Chris Townsend's English 1155 defeated GeneralKostas' German (imperial) 1200 30 to 0.

Although there was some non-flat terrain on this map, it did not feature much in the result, which mostly occurred on the open flat lands. The key to the quick victory was the English medium and light cavalry, which outnumbered their German counterparts. On the left, they drove the German mounted crossbows from the field, allowing the English bowmen to out number the unsupported German crossbows. On the right, after again driving away the German supporting crossbows, they contributed to a series of cascading flank attacks that allowed the English knights to overwhelm the German left before much of the German centre and right could engage.

Better luck next time!

markleslie Danish 1200-1319 AD with Baltic Tribes 1050-1283 AD allies defeats angusosborne Ghaznavid 1041-1187 AD 60-38.

Turn 4 from the Danish percpective, the serenity of ordered ranks still reigns.
Image
From memory the plan was something like our left flank advancing to take the "Knob" while the main body followed slightly behind in support and what happens happens.

Image
Eventually the Knob was taken with enormous losses on the hill and beside it on the plain while elsewhere foot pursued mounted to little effect. A special mention to my mounted crossbows and light foot archers who earnt their pay on our right flank dealing with several foes.

To my opponent, well played and may your arrows fly true in your remaining games.
Salute!

Unfortunately forgot to get a start screen shot.
Image
Everything got scattered to hell in the end because it degenerated to foot chasing mounted around trying to get those last few points to end it.

The Dailami came close to smashing my line in one go and my Elephants and camels were touched up severly by horse bows but, in the end, the Uruk-hai and Wargs won on our left and piled into the centre.

Salute!

Captainwaltersavage Castillian/Leonese 1200 - 1319 with Granadine
defeats
angusosborne Ghaznavid 1041-1187 41:15

The castillian troops hearing reports of Elephants on the prowl ordered up lots of crossbows and light troops and then hid in the woods and hoped the Ghaznavids would either advance into the plains surrounded by hidden troops or wait on their own hills and in woods so that they could lay a plan of attack. the Ghaznavids were brave and advanced with a trebuchet and lots of armoured archers. The Castillians bravely hid in the woods as long as possible and had some success in shooting at the armoured cavalry archers. The Ghaznavids had some early successes shooting my best spearmen to death and wiping out some slow moving light troops. Then the elephants got involved and it started looking like an early defeat for the Castillians. Then the ambushes were sprung and the Ghaznavids found themselves out of position. lots of archery disrupted the elephants and spearmen finished them off. Even the elite Ghaznavid infantry found themselves flanked and fighting knights on open ground. The cheaper Iberian infantry managed to shoot and melee enough infantry to win the battle. Great credit is due to the Granadine allies fighting on the right flank who managed to keep the Ghaznavids from too much flanking. The score does not reflect the precarious situation the Iberians were in as a rally by my spearmen clinched the victory before my ambushes ran out of steam. Another turn would have seen a sudden reversal of fortunes for the Iberians. A very close game in the end.

Division 3 or Division C

Chris Townsend's Graeco-Bactrians defeated Antivirt's Roman 105 BC 63 to 42.

There were really three semi-linked battles. On the Graeco-Bactrian right, it was a cavalry battle in open terrain, with roughly equal honours. On the left flank, it was mostly a standoff between Roman infantry and Graeco-Bactrian cavalry, fronted by cataphracts. An elephant did manage to slip through a gap between the wing and the centre, and, although it was destroyed, that did provide a path for the light cavalry to overrun the supporting artillery. In the centre, it was a similar story, where the other two elephants sacrificed themselves to open opportunities for my infantry, supported by cavalry, to flank individual Roman legions. Even so, those veteran Roman legions basically only died from attrition, so it was a long fight that could have gone either way.

Good game!
