Drudgep's Mongols defeat Asterix's Bohemian Catholic army w/ Hungarian allies by a score of 56-29.

The Mongols sent a flurry of arrows to gain the upperhand initially then slowly wore down the Bohemians. Well played and closer than the score indicates.

Morat Visigoths 419-621 with Byzantine (571-8) defeats GDod Indo-Greek 175 BC - 10 AD with Indian 500 BC-319 AD: 49-17

Indo-Greeks manoeuvred expertly, and got the Visigoths into a a few awkward positions: but once the infantry battle started the Visigoth/Byzantine foot prevailed.

Thanks to GDod for the match.

Division B

principesromanes (Armenian (Tigranes) 83-69 BC with Pontic 84-47 BC allies) defeats Bodhran (Jewish 167-164 BC) 61-51

The Jewish and Armenian armies faced off by the coast (water blocking one side of the map) on opposite hills separated by a shallow river. Seeing a bunch of enclosures and a forest, the Armenians decided to leave their cavalry at home and brought a whole bunch of irregular foot. Meanwhile, the Hebrew army massed behind their zealots and skirmishers for a powerful charge.

The Armenian lights got the better of the initial engagement, although the enthusiastic participation of the Armenian lancers resulted in them exposing their rear to a line of zealots. Would not recommend. Nonetheless, the victorious Armenian lights – supported by a few massed bowmen – forced the lightly protected Jewish army to make some less than idea charges. Nonetheless, it was a very messy melee and we were both surprisingly lucky in avoiding chain disruptions. The Jewish infantry took out the cataphracts surprisingly quickly. In the end, it was probably the victorious Armenian lights that provided the crucial edge.

A single Jewish rally in the last turn and I honestly think I would have lost. Thanks for an incredibly close game.

The Byzantine army deployed along the river, engaging the enemy's infantry in successive encounters. On the right flank, the enemy's cavalry achieved victory but failed to return to the central front in time. The Byzantine cavalry on the left flank crossed the river and, operating closer to their own infantry, swept through the opposing positions.

Aetius (Byzantines) defeats Morat (Visigoths) 47-20

It was a fight with a lot of cavalry, and the line was long and stretched. The Byzantines gained the advantage, punching holes here and there, and ultimately routed the Visigoths, although not without significant losses themselves. GG!
