Division B

Nijis (Spanish) defeats IMC (Viking - Ireland with Irish allies) 61 to 53.

A very close game. The Viking heavy foot chewed up the Spanish line but the Iberian lancers and skirmishers managed to gang up on enough isolated units on a chaotic battlefield to eek out a win.

All happened in the last two turns and was neck-a-neck until that point. Great tactical game. Thanks to Ian.

My skirmishes well started game (about 8:0) but then terminators (veteran samnite foot) make several double cohesion drops and I start feeling that I loose game. Next I lost my massed arches and lost hope. Fortunately for me enemy warriors go for long pursuing, lucky some my units rally and I win this rollecoster.

rs2excelsior (Lydian 550-546 BC) beats kerrak (Assyrian 681-609 BC with Arab allies 1000-313BC) 62-42

A hard fought match from start to finish. The Assyrians deployed their main body in between two woods, while the Lydian forces faced them on a low hilltop. I knew I wouldn't be able to take advantage of the position--the Assyrian archers would shoot my hoplites apart rather than assault into a strong position, so my forces pressed forwards. Raw hoplites formed a smaller second line on the flanks, and Phrygian medium foot extended the lines, with a small detachment of cavalry on the left and a larger one on the right. The cavalry met on the flanks first, followed by a general melee all along the line. Arab allies emerged from the trees, which my medium foot responded to. My lancers got the better of the Assyrian cavalry and chariots on the right, and the larger group of medium foot broke through and wheeled in to help the main infantry line, which was struggling to break the Assyrians--it seemed my hoplites couldn't pass a morale check to save their lives. The left flank collapsed, pressed by superior numbers, but the center eventually made a limited breakthrough. Reinforcements from the right flank came to shore up the faltering center, and eventually pushed the Assyrian army over the 60% threshold. It was a hard-fought battle, bought with blood every inch of the way. My hoplites struggled far more than I thought they would, and my medium foot was far more instrumental to the victory than I expected. Them and the Lydian lancers, who absolutely chew through other cavalry in this era.

The battered remnants of the two armies duking it out, perpendicular to the original battle line:

Well played to you, but unfortunately, it was not my own empire which was destroyed today :)

Group B

Schweetness101 (Irish 900) beat GDod (Viking (Ireland) 900) 71 - 43

*so GDod and I each beat each other once, and both of us each beat oscarius in the games with him, so does it come down to points disparity in the games between us? That is, I beat GDod by 28 points (71 - 43), and he beat me by 28 points (49 - 21), so..."lots will be drawn" as per the rules? how does that work?

Or am I doing the numbers wrong here?

Final Table Group B:
1. GDod ………………...12 points
2. Schweetness101..12 points
3. oscarius……………..0 points

Tiebreaker 28-28 and GDod has won the toss of the coin to proceed to the semi-finals - stockwellpete
