Hi everyone, looking forward to my first battle in this campaign. I've been chosen to play in one of the first games. Again, I'm new so let me know if I'm doing something wrong.

I haven't been assigned a map, so ill choose Benouville. Ill post the game with the password as 12345. Hope I'm doing this right, good luck to my opponent.

Sounds good Corey. Go for it.

Recommendations...

1. Check the Order of Battle (OOB) to compare your units vs your enemy's units (it will give you an idea what to choose during force selection; does he have tanks?; does he have 88s or mortars?; critically how many transports does your enemy have?)
2. Consider the terrain of the Benouville map. Check which flags are worth 5pts, 3pts, 1pt. Points winner takes the map. Does the terrain surrounding the flags that you want to take help or hinder an approach? Can you use any of that terrain for ambushes? Could your enemy?
3. Share screenshots with your team mates on the Allied private thread, to tell 'em how it's going, or to ask their advice. They've played your opponent so they'll know his style of play, what units he likes, how he will probably field his units
4. Both sides can deploy before the MP game actually starts. Check the Strat Map to remind yourself of the direction that each force will arrive from.
5. Remember the game finishes after the German player has completed his "3 turns remaining" move (so that we can record all of the flags and losses)

Don't hesitate to come back with any questions. Allies have a much stronger/more mobile force in Benouville, but while the terrain is mostly open (tank friendly) there are some sneaky ambush spots to be wary of. Good luck mate! Have fun... It should be a great game.
:D

GottaLove88s wrote:CONFIRMED BATTLES - JUNE 9th

Abbaye d'Ardenne - Brig Mlazar: Ost 411/716 [ARPS] ASD v Lt Colonel iProp(tbc?): 8/3Cdn [ATS]
Abbaye d'Ardenne was the field HQ of panzer ace Kurt Meyer, who used its tall towers to gain a view across Normandy to the Atlantic Ocean. Here, the Canadians have been intercepted and ambushed, as they transit Abbaye from Hermanville to Caen. The Abbey itself and the road to Caen score the high VP points, the crossroads and the town win field advantages. At first glance, Abbaye looks very open, but there's plenty of cover in the town, in woods, in mud, rough ground and cornfields. Both sides have very limited transport options. The better planner will win this one.

Benouville - Lt Col Joncorcuera: 858/346 [FwPS] AFD v Maj Coreysr: 30/79 [MRS]
Northern fringes of a small town to the western side of the Caen Canal, the Benouville map is fairly open (tank friendly) with a straight road running from Ouistreham southwards through Benouville town. Bunkers along the road guard coastal guns to the north. Mixed woodland and scattered farms offer some cover to infantry, further west.

POTENTIAL BATTLES - JUNE 9th PM

Abbaye d'Ardenne - Ost 411/716 [ARPS] ME v 27/3 [AS] (if 8/3Cdn loses in AM)
Abbaye d'Ardenne - II/726/716 [PS] ME v 8/3Cdn [ATS] (if Ost 411/716 loses in AM)

[Bonuses: A=Arty, N=Naval, M=Medic, R=Rally, P=Promote, S=Resupply, Fw=FW190, T=Typhoon]

Hey guys, if you haven't already started your June 9th games, please give me 60 mins, and re-download...

Previously, I'd named each GJS'44 campaign folder with the date, eg. GJS44_JUN06, GJS44_JUN07, etc... But, I've realised that if we keep the campaign folder called GJS44_JUN08 (the one from our last turn, and the most widely downloaded version) and then just keep adding all of the new battles each time we add a new day... then GJS44_JUN08 will remain backwardly compatible for anyone who posts challenges from previous days...

Hope that makes sense? If you've already begun to fight your June 9th battles, then ignore this and continue on. But if you haven't started fighting, give me 60 mins... Thanks for your patience...

Thanks everyone,

MLazar & CoreySr... Please cancel your current, unaccepted, June 9th challenges, re-download and go again... GJS'44 will now start as v1.23 (so others know that you have the latest maps) but the campaign folder will still be called GJS44_JUN08, so you will be able to see challenges from folks with earlier versions, and can accept them...

(Don't worry, if you've already started fighting June 9th... In that case, just carry on, and we'll fix it for June 10th)

Yes. Did you delete the prior GJS campaigns? If you used cut and paste are you sure you have no spaces after the 44? It took me 2 tries to get this to download. I think it is because the first time I had a prior campaign

Iprop, GL88,
You both are excellent players and I learned tricks/tactics from you and other good player. that I subsequently used them against all comers. I do learn quick. But I win some and lose some. Thank you both for your kind assessment of my skills. (Shame I can't play games for a living)
