Division B aka Division 2

Chris Townsend's English 1155 defeated wzfcns' French 1115 (and their Aragonese allies) 42 to 11.

The key features of this map were on the English right. The French place skirmishers and almughavars in their woods, and a strong force of knights to their centre/right, plus some more knights behind the woods on their far left.. The English placed Welsh spearmen in the rough on their right (with a couple of knights for support), infantry in the centre, and a force of knights and supporting horse on their left

The key to the fighting was the English knights on their left had enough infantry support (including crossbows) to defeat the French main line, while the outflanking French knights took too long to engage, due to the need to go around those Welsh spearmen.

Good game!

Chris Townsend

alexhstandish (Axumite and Beja) defeated Asterix_von_TWC (Franks with Vikings) 61 - 44

Another huge horde of spearmen and lancers for the Axumites to try and fight through. A tough fight with much blood loss on both sides. The camels did for some lancers and the enemy spear managed to roll up half the Axumite foot.

Thanks Asterix for a fun battle

Nosferatu (Mountain Indian+Indian) defeated Chris Townsend (Graeco-Bactrian) 61-37

The terrible pike phalanxes and elephants advanced towards the hesitant Indian archers. Both sides strengthened their right side at the expense of the other flank. While the Indians won their flank battle quickly to start flanking the center, the Graeco-Bactrian cavalry got stalled. As the center come into full contact, also an epic clash between two Elephants was fought (Indians barely winning) and while the Graeco-Bactrian pikes would maul the Indians badly, the Indian right wing finally pushed through and the pikes found themselves isolated and surrounded.

Bulk of my fighting Uruk-hai, with the Elephants driving up the right towards the big wood, a line of Warg Riders and some Uruks hanging back in the centre and a small force of foot and massed bow in the small wood to ambush.

So, advance up the right, draw the enemy towards my centre past my ambush, see what happens. Simple plan.

Went to shit in one round with my ambushers and most of my Warg Riders being wiped out, fortunately my Fighting Uruk-hai did what they were bred for, well enough, and limited things to just a bloody nose.

To my opponent, for the cup of cold water down the back of my neck, thank you abd salute!
Bit concerned about the army choice in this one! How did the German Hobbits get on?

Div 2 20 56%

It looks like about half the games have been started and fairly evenly across the divisions. I know that a couple of players are away and there have been server issue recently so there is no concern. Just encourage players to get games underway in good time. Unfinished games will be adjudicated or a 0-0 result will be recorded.

I will post result tables when there are enough game results in to be representative.

carpenkm (dacian) beat GDod (Indo Greek) 53 - 22

The elephants really let the side down disrupting and fragmenting on a whim - all except one which fought all the way to autobreak. The Dacian Warbands were too much of a match for the Indian foot and they held very well against the Phallanx. Thanks for a good game and the lesson about historic elephant bows which dont seem to represented in the game. Well played.

I usually don't concern myself with the after battle pursuit, I would expect that as the situation became clear they began organising a stout defence of the camp...

... along with the salted pork...

... and of course the Longbottom leaf.

Asterix of Aragon defeated the honorable gentleman Egmont of the Rus 18-49. Well played, result did not seem fair due to your very decent attempt to fight back my single flank overload.
