The Quarter-Final draw takes place this evening at 7pm (UK time). There is just one 3rd Round match to finish involving GDod and klayeckles.

It has been a very interesting tournament so far. The 2nd Round saw a lot of the higher-rated players drawn together, but in the 3rd Round they mostly managed to avoid one another. Nevertheless, there was a huge shock with newcomer CyberHetman decisively beating Nosy_Rat, who was probably the favourite to win the tournament up until then. Another big surprise is gamercb's progress into the Quarter-finals after victories against wellsonian, TomoeGozen and Najanaja. There is also a very distinctive FOG1 feel to the Quarter-final line up, which will definitely include old rivals CheAhn, ericdoman1 and pantherboy and they may be joined by klayeckles as well. desertedfox makes up the line-up for the last eight.

We have 2 players who only have FOG2 Ancients - gamercb and pantherboy - and we have 4 other players who are using Ancients armies. So my first task is to draw 2 discs from the group of 4 players and add them to the draw bag that has gamercb and pantherboy in it.

The 2 discs drawn out are 05 desertedfox and 07 ericdoman1. So now there are 4 discs in the bag and I will draw out matches 01 and 02.

So that is the first part of the split draw done. I will now add the remaining 4 discs to the draw bag. These 4 (5) players have both FOG2 Ancients and FOG2 Medieval.

That completes the draw for the Quarter-Finals.

I was more fortunate and did not deserve to win

ConstantinIX (Arab Conquest 638-684 AD) beat CyberHetman (Danish 1200-1319 AD with Baltic Tribes) 40-15.

Veteran spearmen did their duty as they stand impassive in front of knights and volley of arrows in the center. And they score points on the left and at the junction between right and center but without breaking decisevely. But it was enough.

klayeckles (khorsanian + dhalami allies) defeats CheAhn (hung. +tartar) 64 to 52.
I used the blind squirrel technique and found a lucky acorn. The Hungarians were ahead for most of the battle drenching the Khors in arrows...all but 1 of the 25 units being shooters. But the Gilmen armor kept one wing of the Khors army from collapsing long enough to allow the chaos of battle take hold, and greater numbers of cav on one wing to clear both wing and center with flank charge after flank charge. came down to clock race that i bearly won.

The semi-final draw for the KO Tournament will take place "live" on the forum tomorrow (30/5) at 7pm UK time.

These are the ball numbers for tomorrow evening's draw. All the medieval armies have been knocked out now, so there is no longer any need to split the draw. Two shooting armies, one horse army and one spear army . . .
