The first shock didn't break any muslim spearmen so the natural superiority of spearman against swordman prevailed in the long term resulting in the legio line slowly crumbling.

First round of combat had me on the back foot from the start when the German knights fragmented my armoured spears (whilst my knights just bounced off the German defensive spears) but a couple of turns later my Superior German foot knights had the edge over the other Superior German foot knights, just as well as I was outnumbered as I had lots of mounted knights that struggled to initially make any impact. There was a great deal of largely ineffective manoeuvring on both flanks and we both had reserves ready to counter the eventual breakthroughs. I got some lucky disrupts and fragments at the right time and my Knights finally worked their way through the chaos to start charging the weaker reserve units. My final knightly charges managed to sweep away the cavalry coming to charge my rear. A nail biting game that could have easily gone the other way.

a great match up that revolved around a small patch of rough terrain in the center. Byzantine started strong and took the lead, but eventually the Khorosan cav began to flank the outnumbered byzantines while the dailami holed up in the rough dodging arrows.
