I am delighted to report my first win in this section:

MikeMarchant (Seleucid 124-63 BCE - Allies: Jewish) defeats Karvon (Sarmatian 350 BC-24 AD) : 50/23

The score is not at all representative of the game. This was a tough slog against a predominantly lancer army and the game was won by the 'Battle of the Big Forest' between medium foot from both sides. It ought to have ended in a draw, with the Seleucids unable to push the Sarmatians over the line until the very last turn.

Bad luck Karvon and thanks for the game.

gamercb (Achaemenid Persian 545-481 BC) beat MikeMarchant (Elamite 815-539 BC with Babylonian ally) 67-54

A tense battle with arrows flying everywhere. The Elamites overwhelmed the Persian Infantry, despite the latter being uphill. Numbers told in this area of the battle as the Elamites had twice as many bow units to the Persians and wore them down before charging in. The Persian cavalry and chariots drove off their Elamite opponents from the field before turning to take on the Elamite infantry. Returning Elamite chariots arrived to late to save the day.

A good close battle that looked bad for the Persians as their infantry were massacred. Thank you Mike. Look forward to fighting you again.
