principesromanes (Hebrew 681-586 BC with Kushite Egyptian 727-656 BC) defeats jorgito78 (Macedonian 260 BC with Greek allies) 26-2 (Jorgito surrendered, so I assume the score would be recorded as 40-2)

Jorgito surrendered as the Hebrew army threatened to fully outflank the phalanx line, after driving off the cavalry from the flank. At best, the phalanx could form square and be shredded by missile fire.

Divison C

principesromanes (Hebrew 681-586 BC with Kushite Egyptian 727-656 BC) defeats DIVM (Thessalian 404-352 BC) 49-16

The Hebrew army aggressively attacked the outclassed Massed Greek Peltasts on the Thesalian left, effectively sweeping the Thessalian left. In the centre, the Hebrew heavy chariots protected the weaker Hebrew foot and massed archers long enough to spare them the full brunt of a hoplite charge. By the time the hoplites could really come to grips with the softer Hebrew infantry, the victorious Hebrew right flank was already threatening to wrap around. The Hebrew left was decidedly outclassed by the Thessalian right, in no small part because of two units of Cretan archers. However, a small forest separated this flank from the main battle, limiting the Thessalians’ ability to exploit this advantage.

Thanks for the game!

Nosferatu (German+French) defeats Rob123 (Dailami+Khorasanian) 22:47

The Dailami fought bitterly, but the Germans broke through their line on several spots, routed an Elephant and destroyed just enough of Dailami to edge out a win.

Karvon's Carthaginian 235 BC w Spanish defeated Nijis' Meroitic, 280 BC to 400 AD 61-40

The field was divided by a stream. Woods and rough blocked off our right with more rough beyond the stream on that flank. A very large and long rough patch shielded the enemy right flank and a couple of small rough patches fell in the center on the far side of the stream.

We opted to initially hide some of our mediums and a mounted command in and behind the woods on our right. Our spears, supported by a few mediums, formed up with the woods covering their right. A mixed mounted command covered our left. Our light foot screened our center.

The Meroitic army formed up on our far left. A mass of their raw spears formed their right, backed by massed bow. The center was held by their medium foot, also backed by massed bow and a pair of elephants. Their horse massed to cover their open left and their light foot screened their center.

We advanced in echelon shifting right. We quickly brought up our mounted reserve to combine with our screening lights to aggressively attack his massed horse. Our medium foot crossed behind in support, while our heavy foot shifted right to cover their flank, with our left mounted slowing advancing to cover the heavy foot's flank.

The Meroitic forces rumbled forward, crossing the stream and slowly wheeling left to face our echelon. The bow fire from their massed and light archers caused significant losses among our screening lights and leading mediums, but we pushed fresh troops forward and used generals to rally disordered troops in the rear.

We rather quickly drove off or destroyed the enemy mounted covering their left with our combo of horse, elephant and foot, exposing his supporting massed bow to our advancing mediums. In the center, our lights shot up some of his leading mediums and our spears and supporting mediums closed with his mediums. He unleashed his elephants and they ground their way through our line, causing a bit of mayhem. On our left, our horse command slowed his advancing raw spears.

Our mediums swept over and around his left, seeing off all the opposing massed bow and most of his mediums. Most of our center spears were ground down or flanked, but they held out long enough for the rest of the army to secure the win.

Captainwaltersavage Portugese 1200-1319 with Berber (Marinid) defeats Aetius39 German (Imperial) 1050-1154 w/ Free Canton

43:5

A very narrow battlefield meant that there was not much manoeuvring before contact was made. The Portuguese lights were having the better of the conflict, but when the German infantry became involved the Portuguese missile troops and Knights took their chance and the subsequent charges caused all the damage. A very fortunate series of pursuits finished the game early just before the German foot knights and spearmen began to redress the balance.

That's my last game in this season. Thanks to all my opponents. My success in the Early Medieval is mirrored by my utter failure in the Later Medieval. Nice to see there is still lots to learn.

The first column is games started, but it would be fun to update the table again. It looks like it’s now all down to the last game.
