That score is incorrect it was closer than that until the last two turns blew my score out. Final result was 66-37 a difference of 29% when I broke not 66-29 as reported.

RussellGardiner1964 and his Seleucid 320 BC army

by 46 to 21.

A series of cross attacks between heavy foot units allowed the Parthians to front and back a Seleucid Veteran Pike with a General. When that unit fell, other Seleucid pikes disrupted and their battle line became unsustainable.

The masses of Egyptian light chariots swept round the right pulling well ahead on points, but never quite managed to get a 25% difference, with the Assyrian foot in the centre breaking through, and holding on to the bitter end.

Division C

cnzmur (Scots-Irish) defeats wzfcns 57-31

Good game. The Scots-Irish managed to surround and overwhelm the Roman heavy foot and cavalry fairly successfully (Scots-Irish foot are surprisingly resilient against cavalry given their price), but then ran into some trouble with a force of Auxilia Palatina hidden in the woods on the Roman left who could beat them at their own game. Managed to keep the majority of my forces focussed where they were doing well, and got the win.

a swirling epic where pyrrhus used his greater numbers to stretch the well trained spartans and romans enough to find a few cracks and get a few stray cav to flank the phalynx.

DIVISION C

vakarr (Thracian Roman client with Roman ally) defeats kostia (Byzantine) 62-35

The Byzantine army outclassed and outnumbered mine in the cavalry forces. Their foot was pretty good, too. I decided to try releasing the drones on them - taking every possible light horse (and cavalry) unit, including lots of javelin light horse. This didn't seem to be very successful to begin with. The Byzantine right flank did lots of damage to my left flank cavalry but my cavalry stayed in the game long enough to keep the Byzantine cavalry from interfering with what was happening on the other flank. On that flank, my drones took a beating but when the infantry lines closed, my only warband unit managed to hit the flank of the Byzantine infantry, then pursue onto the flank of two others, all in the same turn. Pretty soon the score was 42- 21 in my favour, but one of the Byzantine infantry units rallied, the Byzantine cavalry charged, and it was a struggle to the finish, with enough drones surviving to keep annoying the enemy in concert with the ability of the rhomphia men to survive cavalry charges, and charge back. I had some luck with the light artillery, being able to disrupt enemy units with three shots from various units, as long as one was the artillery. A hard struggle that often seemed like it would be a Byzantine win.
