Division A
Geffalrus (Antigonids) defeats youngr (Italian Hill Tribes and Latins) 43-15
After a savage, inconclusive affair with the Samnites, the Antigonid Expeditionary Force decided to take out it's feelings of frustration on the local Italian Hill Tribes. Throwing caution to the wind, the Antigonids advanced through rough, hilly terrain intent on securing some sort of decisive victory. The hill tribes put together a large force of medium foot, with a sprinkling of hoplites, in an attempt to drown the Antigonids in bodies. Using a small lake to their advantage, the Antigonids massed their phalanx and cavalry on one flank, while a token force of skirmishers and infantry remained on the other to buy time. This maneuver allowed them to concentrate the bulk of their forces on a smaller portion of the Italian host and maximize the high POA of the pike unit. The Italians tried to shift around and come to the rescue of their fellows, but they could not march faster than the Antigonid combined arms force could murder isolated units of Italian Foot. The sarissa-armed meatgrinder rolled over unit after unit after unit, while the cavalry roamed free to rear charge at will.
Good game to my opponent.
The phalanx storms the hill, while the cavalry ride around the open flank.

Barrold713 (Palmyran) defeats rs2excelsior (Byzantine) 42-14
My dudes had the benefit of a large patch of rough terrain where all my massed archers and skirmisher archers were firmly ensconced which allowed my solid line of legionnaires and cataphracts to hold and push back against Byzantine lancers and other icky cav. Mark your calendars for this date when one of my game plans actually worked and didn't blow up in my face. Good game to rs2excelsior.

SLancaster (Indo-Greek 175 BC-10 AD with Indian 500 BC- 319 AD allies) defeated rs2excelsior (Roman 105-25 BC). 64-47.
The quality of the Roman troops made it very tough at the start. Most of my centre line was crumbling around me. Fortunately, a nice flanking move with spears and elephants helped me out. It was tied until the very last turns. A hard fight indeed.

Tough game for the Pontics as a wide open battlefield helped the Greeks put pressure on both Pontic flanks.

It was looking good to start, I was about 15% up... and then my left flank caved in like a wet paper sack. Numbers plus a bit of bad luck (EVERY ONE of my generals was killed) crushed my remaining troops. Very well played!

SnuggleBunnies (Jewish Revolt 66-135AD) defeats hidde (Parthian 250 BC - 225 AD with Seleucid ally) 60-29
The Jewish army suffered heavily from Parthian mounted archery, but broken ground and irrigation ditches offered enough protection that they eventually carried the day in furious hand to hand combat.

The massive beating I received is sparking some serious research and development in the Byzantine Military Industrial Complex to figure out some new army compositions and tactics. Sadly, I fear this may be too late to save the force sent to confront dkalenda and his murderous Palmyrans........

oscarius (Rus) beat lydianed (Ghaznavid) - 63 - 46
My foes massed eight elephants (I've been facing a lot of these in every era..) didn't prove quite enough to seriously dent my spearwalls while my bowmen and light foot slowly but surely won the shootout against the ghilman. On a battlefield dominated by hostile elephants, rough-ground entrenched bowmen and horse archers the Russian cavalry gave a so-so performance but the success of the other arms led us to victory. Thanks for the fun match!

Division A two results:
klayeckles (arab) defeats younger (Dacian) 49:22
The naked Dacians suffered greatly against the Arab missiles and so advanced. But once the dacian forces ventured into the open the cav and elephants dominated the field
klayeckles (arab) defeats CheAhn (Roman) 68:43
This was a fantastic battle in that saw the arabs capture the dominate hill in the center of the map and take an early lead. this caused the romans to shift their army to their left flank, where much of the battle raged. the roman cav managed to break thru an arab foot troop, and the arab left soon began to crumble, and the romans took the lead. but as the romans performed their shift the arabs doggedly pursued them, and the arab cav began nipping at the roman heels. Then the Dalami arabs and bowmen came rushing down from the hill at center managing to trap and ultimately flank the romans in their redeployment. a fun one the wasn't determined until the last couple turns. nicely done CheAhn.
