I see. I upgraded him to some HE, since his recon plane is shit :)
Grondel wrote: Tue Aug 15, 2023 9:34 am Concerning the 2 Artillerie pieces in Warsaw. 21 cm are a good way to silence them. The villages east of Warsaw provide u with several artillerie pieces that enable u to spare the core slots to field the 21 cm.
I havent even thought about 21cm guns so far, since they are expensive and all my art guns need support fire vs soft and hard targets, so 15cm guns are the only way to go.
Looks like I am too much adapted to the official DLCs, where you dont have change your stuff depending on the map.
But that is a very good feature, makes reruns more interesting after you have some lessons learnt.

Is the new hero system only working in 1939? In 1940 everything seems normal.

Ok, I just finished most of the 1939 update. Simply amazing. What a wonderful outcome of your significant efforts. You commented it was finally being the game you hoped to get originally and I agree. The maps are beautiful and I love the larger size. Gameplay is about as fun as it gets. Thank you for making such a great DLC.

I can't wait to replay it again - not something I've said about every release. I think the Norwegian campaign is much more interesting now.

I struggled with Finland, probably because I miss my Panzers and German equipment. Dealing with the mass Soviet tank attack(s) confounded me. I think I had to add AUX slots to the second battle because it didn't allow me to deploy any at the beginning. I'll rerun it and see if I do better.

playing cleptomania during "Spoils of War" makes the Finnland branch significantly easier.

How paratroopers (fallschirmjäger) work now? There is no embark option.

I've never had a problem with them. Are you sure it's not either raining or snowing?

I'm currently in Novoanninsky mission, 1942, started from 1939, and I actually never had an option to embark them from the start. At first I thought maybe there were some complications in early war, then I just worked around, but in this and few previous mission paratroopers are really needed for my tactic.
But its not weather, there is no such option. Missions do not have option like was in vanilla 'you have x air transport' etc.
I'm using 2 mod's GC1939-45 and Storm over Europe (descending order). I want them to fly. In vanilla I was able to do so from airports. Damn, if this is a bug I'm screwed since you cant just turn off one mod in a middle of campaign.

Actually I switched off SoE, so its 1 mod -- GC1939. https://i.imgur.com/Ft6019g.jpeg

The reason u cannot embark ur paratroopers is because the player has no JU52 or other airtransport in this scenario, only some trains.

U can add transports to ur pool by using the cheat code:"runany AddTransport Ju52 10"
This will add 10 Ju52 transports to the players pool, but will certainly unbalance the scenario.

You mean there is intentionally no missions since 1939 where I can deploy paratroopers??

several missions in 1940 had them, eben emael to name just one.
several missions in 1941 had them, crete airborne to name just one.

If u prefer using paratroopers all the time, pick the AfricaCorps path next time instead of 1941 going east.
After the Malta scenario u have Ju52 readily available in most scenarios.

The Africa Corps scenario is near the bottom of the list and u start it with the core from 1940.

Thomas

I see. Did not expect such sudden cut of strategy element, I mean, not only they were available in every mission in vanilla, but also fallschirmjäger as unit stayed in roster but with such rare occurrence when you can actually use them with full benefit of their role, it would be good know such things before campaign start. From readme.txt or whatever. Anyway, thanks for clarification, cheers mate!

thx for the feedback.

As to notification, it´s at the top of your screen at the start of evry scenario.

In RL circumstances dictate ur tactical options. Making the circumstances fit ur tactical prefrences is rarely possible.

But u are lucky, this is just a game. :)

If u don´t like the circumstances presented to u, change them.

Thomas

Has there been a stealth change for the 21cm artillery? I can no longer move it one hex and then shoot even according to the icon I should? I also noticed that the units.csv and transportclass.csv got a timestamp from today (Steam).

the units file is currently undergoing a massive rework. i´ll post a list in the discussion area of steam when it nears completion.
A first version had to be uploaded to stay in line with SoE which will have the same units file when we are done, to remove some issues when both mods are activ(telling people to only have 1 mod active at a time has proven to be too difficult).

If u come across any oddities please let us know.

Regarding the heavy artillerie pieces, the towed versions are no longer able to shot and move in the same turn. it´s either move or shoot.

Thomas
