By the way, Beta v 1.5.22 means Axe Huscarl has +10 POA against cavalry as well, doesn't it?

Yes.

Steady Spears, however, cancel the enemy cavalry sword POA, so (steady) spears are still better vs cavalry.

I realise that this is about HW but is there any development on improving the ZOC rules especially wrt not being able to charge units directly in front of a unit and in so doing getting rid of the kinked line game play?
