Box 4 result:
rbodleyscott (Russian 1662-1694): 11% routed
won vs
TheGrayMouser (Polish 1652-1662): 41% routed
This result came as a complete surprise to both of us, with a massive Polish collapse in the last turn.

True, although I think that would be a shame. What I have particularly enjoyed about this series of tournaments is the variability of the battles, unlike the usual "open battle in agricultural" which we have tended to have in other tournaments and most one-off MP challenges.

Just take the time to examine their disposition and gauge whether they are smaller than usual otherwise if they do have a flank march than it must be rather small.
Agreed. The possibility of significant flank marches is another opportunity to show skill (or not).
For example: The enemy army does seem to be rather small. Do they have a flank march or are they hiding behind that hill? How can I marshall my forces so they can cope with either possibility? How quickly can I scout out the other side of the hill?

Box 4 result:
rbodleyscott (Spanish 1649-1688): 13% routed
won vs
LFDLM (Russians 1649-1661): 55% routed
The Russians broke through on their left centre, where their berdische musketeers were able to make good use of a steep hill, but were held on their right centre. Both their wings were swept away by the exultant Spanish cavalry.
¡Olé!

An ode to Austrian Ardor entitled Tourney tip - Surrender at the start
From the banter... to play Imperial is a hard one
For being imperial is definitely no fun
When confronted by Swedish zest or French grit
You may as well jump into the nearest deep pit
Rather than pretend to defend with a Viennese soggy wet bun!

Fair comments gentlemen....once we have the experience to know what size the army is meant to be or not which is handicap in itself

in the interim I shall cry in my tea cup and think I'm a lackey of the French King total noble in lineage totally inept in military skill

The British fought almost all the battle with 11 units out on flank march but still took the fight to the enemy and almost succeeded. Two engrossing games.

Breaking News from the front "Surprise German Surrender" Germans 32% under Generalissimo RexHurley Imperialists 13% under Generalissimo GGD
Staving of a complete collapse, the German forces surrender to the imperial army outside Ausfahrt.
Failing to entice the Germans to attack, and after an intense staring competition with each other, the imperialists adavanced from their well chosen defensive position. The Imperialist cavalry on the right advanced with supporting infantry. Simultaneously, with an intense exchange of fire from German infantry within a wood and the advancing imperialists, the cavalry from both sides charged at the each other. After an extended flurry of close quarter sabres and pistol the Imperial cavalry gained the upper hand. Both sides threw more into the fight but the german musketeers were all but thrown out of the woods as Imperial infantry advanced. On the left, Imperial cavalry that had been cautiously shadowing stationary the German cavalry now charged as both centres closed with musketeers from both sides making good use of the rough ground. Just then a cry went up "We're out of sausages, we've only got small wieners" Suddenly, to a man the German forces downed their pike and shot and surrendered on the spot!.
Post script Later that evening the German cook Herr Hans Fuller and his close companion Herr Klause Shitzen-Kniebundhosen were seen selling wieners in the shadier part of Ausfahrt

My Imperial Austrians slaughtered Hidde's misguided Ottoman Turks in our first game. The Ottomans lost 61% to our mere 59%. So 6.1 points to me and 5.9 points to him.
But as the victors we get to write the history and so it was a resounding victory that made Phyrrus of Epirus look like a rank amateur

Awesome game by the soundof it!... I do wish your graphic penmen and colorists had brought their vellum and quills to the field, I hear there's a new contraption available now to copy their work. I think it duplicates images by means of stamps by applying pressure to an inked surface resting upon a print Apparently, those clever Germans pioneered it sometime ago - a man named Johannes Gensfleisch zur Laden zum Gutenberg I believe.
My own penman are very apt at portraying heathen dead, perhaps you'd like to borrow them

youngr - Jacobite Irish routed 28%: 6.0 + 2.8 = 8.8
rbodleyscott - Russian routed 56%: 2.8
The Russians were outnumbered and didn't have much room to manoeuvre.

Hang on a sec. Last time I looked I was 8-38 in the lead. Did a Russian saint summon an army of angels to reverse this battle?

The French infantry (and artillery) did yeomen work while our shock cavalry failed to perform and were much bested by the numerous average quality English horse. Fortunately the Beefeaters routed before my flanks disappeared completely!
