fogman (seljuk turks) 28/35 vs scipioasinus (later abbasids) 42/37
the weight of the seljuk army was distributed on the left with progressively less forces as it spreads out towards the right. the strength on the left was accentuated by the strange decision of the abbasids to let a trio of turcoman cavalry go on a wide flanking move unchecked. as expected the seljuk right flank went down fighting, the centre traded vicious beatings with its counterpart and the left destroyed a large enough mass of the abbasid host to clinch victory.

fogman (saffarids) 21/35 vs lydianed (later abbasids) 33/32
the saffarids circled the wagon and made use of central position to shift forces around efficiently, and to prevent the more mobile abbasids from turning them.

fogman (ghaznavids) 9/33 vs lascar (later abbasids) 32/32
the ghaznavid camp was quickly taken and the small battle group defending it routed. but on the main front across the river, a combination of ghaznavid lancers and elephants provoked mass confusion in the ranks of a large grouping of abbasid ghilman that were packed too tightly and were chased off with heavy losses. without its cavalry support the abbasid infantry was surrounded and destroyed.

In our game (which you have since won

) I was presented with four green maps so I chose the plainest, most open/least verdant I could. Perhaps it had been an oasis...

lydianed (Seljuk Turks) 9/35 vs. ScipioAsinus (Khurasan Saffarids) 37/36
The turks took possession of a tiered hill in the centre of the battlefield. Saffarid skirmishers probed the edges but were chased off and destroyed. The main Saffarid battleline then threw itself at the hill but heavy shooting from the turks and fighting uphill proved too much for the attackers who were unable to get their elephant into play which could have caused havoc with the turkish tight-packed cavalry. In the end, something of a static battle where neither side used the mobility of their cavalry.

Hi Chris, Yep I can see it (and Mschund's one) but I'm trying to keep a limit on the number of games I'm involved in at any one time. I think it aids concentration... I should be able to pick this up later today or tomorrow.

Iandavidsmith (Khurasan Saffarids) 19/33 win
vrs
lydianed (Abbassids) 32/32 loss
The 2nd War of the Sandwiches started with the Abbassids taking the hill ground lining a hill with Ghilman
spear and Dailami . With a little manoeuvring the Saffarid army met the Abbassids line for line as a shooting war
began , with the odd anarchy charge with Abbassids Dailami and Saffarid Lancers. In the end with a little luck from the
dice gods the Saffarid where able to get a few units around the flank and and on top of the hill to cause a little chaos
to the and Abbassids which eventually led to thier defeat.
The Abbassids also looted the Saffarid camp , but little did they know
that the sandwiches had already been removed for save keeping at a
secret location.
Good Game ,
The Sandwiches are on me.
Cheers
Ian

Ghaznavid (mschund) 2/37 vs Saminids (lascar) 31/29
In a battle of two armies shooting each other to pieces, the Ghaznavid's had more bows to bring to the party...

fogman (saminids) 10/34 vs mschund (later abbasids) 39/35
the saminids advanced in a semi circle against the abbasid centre and put interior lines to good use. saminid armoured hf, well protected by lf, were extremely efficient as anchors, allowing the cavalry and impact foot to concentrate on weak spots in the abbasid line.

Iandavidsmith ( ghaznavids) 14/30 win
vrs
uheng1997 ( Later Abbasids) 42/40 loss
A classic game of numbers versus Quality with the Abbasids having
over a quarter more in numbers than the ghaznavid army . A group of Ghilamn
on one flank were too far from the main group to make much of a difference
and quality won out this time. Thanks for the Game , Ian

Iandavidsmith ( ghaznavids) 7/30 win
vrs
lascar ( Later Abbasids) 34/32 loss
The map was open in the centre with some lakes and marsh on each flank.
Some Dailami and a few ghilman where able to hold off the Abbasid flanking
manoeuvre while the rest of the ghaznavid army including 40 elephants broke through
the centre and then it was a case of mopping up until the army broke.
Thanks for the Game ,
Ian

fogman (ghaznavids) 7/33 vs uheng1997 (later abbasids) 40/40
the abbasids used an inordinate amount of front line poor troops and they could just not withstand the toughness and stamina of superior ghilman and dailamis.

Saffarid (mschund) 25/34 vs Saminids (lydianed) 33/33
To armies faced off, each overwhelmed the other's left flank, the battle was close and then it was over...
